Damian Priest‘s path to redemption was once again ruined by Finn Balor. The latter interfered during Priest’s match against Gunther at Survivor Series: WarGames. Moreover, Balor cost Priest the opportunity to win back the World Heavyweight Championship. The heated rivalry escalated later as The Archer of Infamy attempted to seek revenge after the show went off the air.
WWE released unseen footage of Priest attacking Balor in the parking lot. The former World Heavyweight Champion momentarily beat Balor before calvary arrived in the form of The Judgment Day. JD McDonagh and Carlito helped their teammate brutalize Priest. Balor then viciously hit his former tag team partner with a steel chair, which prompted Raw GM Adam Pearce to rush in.
Pearce separated the two sides and quickly asked for medical assistance while Priest laid hurt on the ground. It was a night to forget for Priest, who marched into his match against Gunther full of confidence. In a hard-hitting bout, the 42-year-old star held his own against The Ring General. Just when the match seemed evenly poised, Balor snuck in to hit a Coupe de Grace on Priest.

Gunther then dropkicked The Prince onto the barricade before choking out Damian Priest to retain his title. Although Priest boldly asserted that he was done with The Judgment Day, it looks like Balor wasn’t finished with him. As such, the former Universal Champion has extended his feud with Priest. Having said that, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the 2x Tag Team Champions.
Finn Balor once again screws Damian Priest out of world title at Survivor Series: WarGames
At SummerSlam, The Judgment Day imploded when Finn Balor betrayed Damian Priest. During the latter’s World Heavyweight Title defense against Gunther, Balor interfered and helped The Ring General dethrone Priest.
Priest got his revenge in the months that followed, first defeating Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan alongside Rhea Ripley at Bash in Berlin. Furthermore, The Archer of Infamy faced Balor at Bad Blood, picking up the win without much difficulty.
Since then, Priest has worked his way up to earning a shot against Gunther. In the buildup to Survivor Series, Priest gained the upper hand on his opponent by playing mind games on the World Heavyweight Champion. Following last night’s result, it is safe to say that his story with Gunther is also far from over.
