The Buffalo Sabres-Colorado Avalanche game on Thursday turned out to be a thrilling contest. In a topsy-turvy game, there was one controversial moment too from Zach Benson, which ignited a massive scrum in the third period.
With the Avalanche trailing 3-2 in the third period, the Sabres were looking to add another goal to their tally. During an attack, Benson would make an accidental contact with Parker Kelly and fell on Avs’ goaltender Scott Wedgewood.
While Benson was quick to get up, Wedgewood was not. The forward would put the puck in the net while the goaltender laid down on the ground.
The referees would allow the goal to stand. The Avs’ players did not like the decision and the celebration from the Sabres and went into a brawl with them.

Avalanche coach Jared Bednar was left livid with the decision. He thought that the officials should have blown the whistle and stopped the game there. The 52-year-old explained how the games are usually stopped when other players get down and labeled this decision as “insanity“.
If he’s hurt and he’s not getting up, and they can evaluate that, and they’re standing right there looking at it, the whistle should go… For them to just let it go and then allow the goal is insanity to me.

"If [Scott Wedgewood] is hurt, and he's not getting up, and they're standing right there looking at it, the whistle should go. It's just that simple.

Wedgewood would exit the game after this collision. At the end of the game, it was the Avalanche who would have the last laugh. They would make an incredible comeback and won the game 6-5 in overtime.
Avalanche brutally TROLL Sabres following 6-5 OT victory
In a pulsating match, the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-5 in overtime. They came back from 5-3 down in the third period with less than three minutes to go. After the victory, they would brutally troll the Sabres on social media.

In a post on X, they would share an image of defenseman Devon Toews. He was the one who won the puck in overtime and skated all the way across towards the Sabres zone and tucked it away for the winner. While sharing the image of Toews, the Avs would make fun of their opposition.
