For the first time in over a decade, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart will descend on an episode of Monday Night Raw this week. It’s also the season premiere of the red brand. Staged in Calgary, the hometown of Hart, it’d be a perfect homecoming for the Canadian great. But what’ll he be doing on the show? Rumors were rampant that he’d potentially run into Drew McIntyre.

However, it doesn’t seem like that’s the direction WWE’s headed in. Instead, as per PWInsider, The Hitman is expected to be a part of a confrontation with the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. With a capacity crowd expected in the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Austrian is likely to bear the brunt of a hostile territory. If the two men end up in the same ring tomorrow night, it’d be pandemonium in there.

As one could fathom, Gunther will try his best to talk some trash about The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be. Expected to save the day for Bret is none other than Sami Zayn. The latter grew up idolizing Hart. Moreover, it was The Hitman himself who introduced Zayn when he debuted on Raw back in 2015. Emotions will be running high if Zayn and Bret catch up once again.

Bret Hart could very well act as the liaison between Sami Zayn and Gunther. As the fans saw last Monday, the former Honorary Uce challenged The Ring General for the World Heavyweight title. But the champ declined. Zayn later reminded the Imperium boss that he’s the only man to have beaten Gunther fair-and-square ever since the latter moved to the main roster.

Bret Hart has been critical of Gunther’s wrestling style in the past

At WWE Clash at the Castle 2022, Bret Hart was ringside for a match that received heavy acclaim by the fans. It was the bout featuring Gunther defending his Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus. In one of the most physical matches of the past decade, The Ring General reigned supreme.

The crowd loved it, but Hart didn’t. In fact, The Excellence of Execution later went on to criticize the usage of leg slaps and countless chops in an interview. Back in November last year, Gunther took offense to Bret’s comments and said he wouldn’t hear any positive things from his side either.

And guess what? They’re about to cross paths on Monday Night Raw. The verbal exchanges would be the ones to keep an eye on. For those who’re wondering, Hart is unlikely to take a bump given that he’s 67 now and has had a history of concussions.
