The Game never got to end his wrestling career on own terms. Despite fan speculation, he might never step back inside the squared circle.

It’s stressing worth a dime that most of the retirements in pro wrestling aren’t set in stone. Though a number of legends haven’t stayed true to their word of hanging up the boots for good, there are some exceptions too, and Triple H is one of them. The incumbent Chief Content Officer of WWE called it quits on his in-ring career at WrestleMania 38.

Could he return for a one-off showdown with Kevin Owens after everything that transpired after Saturday Night’s Main Event? It’s remotely unrealistic. As per Dr. Chris Featherstone, those within WWE were shocked to learn that many people were hyping themselves up for Hunter’s in-ring return. And especially after that life-threatening medical condition, he was in just a few years ago.

The report added that it’s not impossible for him to wrestle ever again, but he has no plans to do so. But what exactly deflated him to a point that he pulled the curtains on his incredible career inside the ring? In September 2021, The Game was marred by a cardiac event that led to heart failure.

After being operated upon for almost 15 hours, an ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) was implemented into his body. Last year, during an interview with Ariel Helwani, the real-life Paul Levesque admitted having thoughts of death while he was going through it.

Prima facie, in 2024, he’s leading the charge of the input that goes into storylines on the main roster. What a turnaround it has been for Levesque, both personally and professionally. His knack for storytelling and intricate details is what brought back a ton of viewers to WWE since Vince McMahon‘s ouster.

How did the Triple H in-ring return rumors ensue?

As succinctly mentioned above, Triple H and Kevin Owens went at it in a heated confrontation after Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Prizefighter, fresh off a loss to Cody Rhodes, went berserk at the champ. Owens planted Rhodes with a package piledriver in an aftermath that no one saw coming.

Kevin then placed Cody’s Winged Eagle WWE title belt on his shoulder and started leaving. At the entrance area, The Cerebral Assassin traded some physical blows with Owens. Things could’ve gotten ugly, but the referees intervened.

Solely based on this post-show angle, some netizens began spreading the word that Triple H looks primed for a match with KO. That notion has now been dispelled. Also, with Rhodes announced injured by WWE, he’d be off TV for a while. It’d be interesting to see what consequences are coming Owens’ way on SmackDown.
