Matt Cardona sends a message to Chelsea Green (via WWE)
The pair of Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green is one of the most famous couples in professional wrestling. The two superstars have appeared on-screen as a pair during their time in GCW. Despite them not working together anymore, they clearly share a lot of love for each other. Furthermore, they do not shy away from expressing their happiness for each other’s achievements.
Saturday’s Night Main Event featured the finals of the Women’s United States Championship tournament. Green faced Michin at this event and came out on top to be crowned the first-ever midcard women’s champion. Cardona penned down his thoughts on X and appreciated his wife’s achievement.
After seeing this tweet, some fans jokingly said that they hoped Matt Cardona wouldn’t take this belt to other wrestling promotions. This was a reference to an incident that took place last year. At the time, Green was one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Her husband decided to show up at an indie event wearing his wife’s WWE belt.

Just like her husband, fans were also very excited to see Chelsea Green become the inaugural women’s United States Champion. Holding a title often means more screen time for the champion, and the WWE Universe simply cannot get enough of the Hot Mess on their TV screens. Furthermore, she can go on to have entertaining feuds in the midcard division, as she has done for the past few years.
Wrestling veteran Bill Apter was surprised that there were no incidents after Chelsea Green’s win
The WWE Universe was clamoring for Chelsea Green to finally get her moment in the spotlight. Triple H listened to the fans and decided to pull the trigger on the 33-year-old. While her match against Michin was fine, and fans were happy with the result, Bill Apter couldn’t help but think that the whole segment fell a bit flat.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Apter said that he was expecting Tiffany Stratton to come out and cash in on the champion. This would have made her the second-ever wrestler and the first female superstar to cash in on a midcard title. Thankfully, WWE did not go through with this decision. It would have ruined the tension between her and Nia Jax.

Furthermore, Apter believed that Piper Niven would drop her while she was hoisting her high at the end of the match. This could’ve led to a feud between the former Women’s Tag Team Champions for the US Championship. Alternatively, this move would’ve allowed Tiffany Stratton to cash in, with the Scottish wrestler aligning herself with the Buff Barbie.
