This Saturday, at the Royal Rumble, two WWE Superstars will earn direct quotas to WrestleMania. With less than 48 hours to spare, the excitement is in the air. Everyone has more or less made up their minds about the man and woman they believe could win it all. But for whom is a veteran like Matt Hardy rooting?

The 50-year-old, while speaking on his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, seemed hesitant to pick anyone but eventually backed John Cena. Hardy stressed that there are many different ways the men’s Rumble match could go with. However, he’s betting on Cena, which may lead to his WrestleMania showdown with Cody Rhodes.

As Fightful reported previously, Cena vs. Rhodes has been the working plan for Mania since November. WWE had internally pushed for it once the people in-charge were made aware of The Rock‘s status for WrestleMania 41, which continues to be up in the air.

……….this thing can go in a lot of different directions, it really can. I don’t know man, I might even go with this for the time being, I might even go with John Cena.

John Cena flirted with the possibility of becoming a 17-time World Champion during his promo on Raw’s Netflix debut. The Cenation Leader admitted that it’d take a miracle for him to break the all-time WWE record. To make matters worse, John’s Rumble match counterparts this weekend are only going to make life difficult for the 47-year-old actor.

Speaking of which, he had been filming “Matchbox” in Hungary in the lead-up to his highly anticipated return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. One could deduce that Cena might not have gotten enough training sessions to tune up his body as much as he would’ve liked to. However, The Babe Ruth of WWE can’t afford to cry over the spilt milk. He’ll enter the 30-man Rumble bout as a heavy favorite.

Where things stand for the women at the Royal Rumble this year?

Having fairly discussed the men, some light needs to be shed on the women as well. As of now, only 10 names are officially set in a field that’s expected to be aggrandized by a litany of surprise returns. As far as the winner is concerned, the odds favor Charlotte Flair.

She hasn’t competed in over a year due to the injury she picked up in December 2023..Not only is Flair coming back at the Rumble, but her presentation is also getting a revamp. Per WrestleVotes, the 14-time Women’s Champion will don a “top girl” attitude.

Elements of it are intended to pay homage to her legendary Flair family. The report also added that fans may expect her to soon regain some championship gold. For the unversed, The Queen is penciled in to face Tiffany Stratton for the women’s title at WrestleMania 41.
