Malik Willis experienced a lot of firsts during his Green Bay Packers debut against the Indianapolis Colts on week 2. One was a memorable win, but the other he would prefer to erase it from his mind as quickly as possible.

The Packers were 10-0 and possessed the ball third-and-10 from their own 47-yard line late in the first half. Willis received the ball, but at a glance, it appeared he did not want to release the ball.

Later, head coach Matt LaFleur revealed the reason behind his quarterback’s unusual behavior. It turned out that the Packers center Josh Myers threw up on the ball right before the snap.

I asked Malik [Willis] why he didn't throw the ball on third down, and he told me that Josh threw up on the ball. I was like, 'That's the first time I've ever heard that'.
Matt LaFleur said as per NBC Sports

The referee, Shawn Hochuli, told LaFleur the cause behind the bizarre play and asked him whether he should stop the play, allowing his center to come off if it happened again.

'Absolutely, please do that.' Because you're talking about a critical situation, and it's third down, and I've never had a throw with vomit on a football.
Matt LaFleur said

Myers seemed embarrassed that his teammates had to experience him vomiting during a game not once but twice because he threw up in Brazil when the Packers played against the Philadelphia Eagles.

I'm going to have to apologize for that one. That was probably pretty gross.

Malik Willis shined as the Packers bounced back from week 1 defeat

Willis played only a couple of snaps in week 1 after starter Jordan Love injured himself late in the game. He came on and slipped on the first throw.

There was cause for concern because the 25-year-old only joined the team last month. Yet LaFleur trusted him, and Willis passed with flying colors. He finished with 12/14, 122 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and 6 carries for 41 yards.

Willis’ only passing touchdown was to wide receiver Romeo Doubs. He mostly relied on the run game of Josh Jacobs, who recorded 32 carries for 151 yards on the day.

He's [Malik Willis] only been here two weeks. He did really good with what was asked of him, but we knew we had to come in and run the ball today.
Josh Jacobs said after the game

Well, they need to be at their best because the next game is against bitter rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, who shocked the league by beating last season’s Super Bowl finalists the San Francisco 49ers in the earlier kickoff. The Vikings have won their last 3 meetings against the Packers.
