Shedeur Sanders is one of the most exciting quarterbacks to come through in college football. The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has talent and has carved a name for himself despite being the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders.

However, his recent comments comparing himself with Tom Brady and Michael Vick have left many analysts shaking their heads. Including ex-Colorado alumni Matt McChesney.

Matt McChesney was a guest on The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty and he was for a reaction to this comparison.

That’s a ridiculous comparison you’re getting. Come on, Tom Brady was picked 199, no offense. You don’t want to be compared to Tom Brady coming out of the draft. You want to be compared to Tom Brady after you get into the NFL. I don't he has a lot common with Michael Vick. If you wanna say he's a combo of someone with how long he is. I can go with Randall Cunningham more than Michael Vick. The comparison stuff for Shedeur, I think Shedeur's kinda like one of one. He's kind of something like I've never really seen before.

McChesney summed it up by saying Shedeur Sanders has nothing in common with Michael Vick. Rather, he looks more like former player Randall Cunningham.

The 7-year NFL veteran also made it clear that one should not compare themselves with Tom Brady. As such a comparison will likely make matters worse when GMs and scouts come calling.

It will also put unnecessary narratives on his back, which will ensure fans and the media will look exclusively for negatives. Those negatives might, in turn, hurt his draft stock.

Shedeur Sanders has to prove his draft credentials

Shedeur Sanders might be one of the best college quarterbacks eligible for next year’s draft. However, a losing season with the Colorado Buffaloes has not helped his cause. More important were his performances against the big college programs. This year, with a much-improved roster, it could all change.

His father Deion Sanders might have a hard-liner method of coaching, but the 22-year-old can use it to his advantage and lead his team to important wins en route to a better season. That will help him be in a position to dictate which team will draft him, just like his father wants him to do. But until then, he needs to focus on becoming the best quarterback in next year’s draft.

It would also be helpful for him if he could back up his big claims and seemingly cocky attitude with his play. Only then can analysts say positive things about him.
