Matt Rempe and Ryan Reaves were once again at each other’s throats on Thursday. During the game between the New York Rangers and the San Jose Sharks, the two heavyweights dropped their gloves and exchanged some heavy blows. After the fight, Rempe found himself getting trolled on social media by the NHL fans.

The fight between them broke out at just 5:55 into the first period. With the Sharks leading the Rangers 1-0 at that point, the two heavyweights squared off for the second time. Their first fight came in Rempe’s rookie season with the team when Reaves was with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After first few punches, the two of them would lose their helmets. However, they continue to tug on each other’s jersey and kept on throwing right hands. Rempe was knocked off balance and on to the ice during the middle of this brawl. After the referees ended the duel, Reaves’s jersey was over his head while Rempe slipped on the stage.

Following the fight, the two players were given a five-minute major penalty for fighting. However, Rempe would head straight to the locker room instead of the penalty box. The youngster would not return to the bench and was later declared to have sustained an upper-body injury which ruled him out of the remainder of the game.

However, many times, he has come out 2nd best. In the fight on Thursday, he exchanged some big blows too. Users on social media though, declared Ryan Reaves as the winner of this bout.

While speaking with the reporters in the locker room after the game, the veteran called it a “good tilt” and talked about how it all went down with him.

Well he asked me If I wanted to go off the draw and I said I was gonna run somebody first… He’s a big boy and you have to fight guys like that a little bit of differently. A good tilt… He came up to me when I was talking with Panarin and said, you want one, I said yeah, maybe.

The Sharks went on to win the game 6-5. This turned out to be their first win of the 2024-25 season and snapped a 6-game losing run to open the new campaign. The Rangers meanwhile, are now 3-4-2 for the season with this loss after 9 games.
