It was recently reported by Cultaholic Wrestling that Matt Riddle no-showed and ripped off a wrestling event on Sunday, August 31. ‘The Original Bro’ allegedly never made it to the show titled A New Kingdom Rises by Global Wrestling Kingdom in Barnsley, England. It was intended to raise charity for survivors of domestic abuse and homeless veterans.
Riddle, at the time, hadn’t even returned the money that was paid to him by the independent wrestling promotion. However, as things stand, the reigning MLW World Champion has paid back the deposit. But he did have a lot to get off his chest. Narrating his side of the story, the former WWE Superstar claimed that he didn’t travel to the UK due to schedule mismanagement.
The ‘Super King of Bros’ posted an explanatory video on X saying that GWK had booked him a Thursday flight for a show that was on Sunday. Had he made the trip, he would have been entitled to stay in his hotel room for a couple of days doing nothing when he had other bookings slated for Friday and Saturday.

When Riddle told the promoters that he would arrive in London on the evening of the show, they asked him to bear his own expenses. That’s why the Pennsylvania-born wrestler decided to ditch the GWK event, and he flew to Miami instead and wrestled there. In the aforementioned video, the former RK-Bro member asserted that the proceeds of the event going to charity was a last-second call.
Contrary to Riddle's claim, Al Snow announced four weeks ago that the profits from GWK's inaugural show would be donated to Help 4 Homeless Veterans and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide. However, it was announced by Al Snow four weeks before the event that the generated revenue would be directed to Help 4 Homeless Veterans and Survivors of Bereavement by Suici*e. This has made the fans call Riddle out for lying in his social media outburst.
GWK disputes Matt Riddle’s claims in a detailed statement, clearing the air
Following Matt Riddle‘s aforementioned statements raising numerous red flags about Global Wrestling Kingdom’s treatment of him, the promotion has now unveiled the unfortunate series of events that transpired.
The UK-based promotion said that air travel for Riddle was set and approved by his manager way back in April. GWK added that a promoter in Paris wanted to book ‘The Original Bro’ on Saturday, which fell a day before GWK’s A New Kingdom Rises event.

But things didn’t work out at the end, and Riddle didn’t get that booking in France despite the overtures that were made. GWK claimed to have made efforts to get the MLW star booked elsewhere, but to no avail.
Fast forward to last Thursday, GWK wished Riddle the best of luck for his scheduled flight to London, but they didn’t hear back from him. On Friday morning, the driver supposed to pick him up from the airport kept waiting for hours, but Riddle was nowhere to be found.
The wrestler in question finally expressed his displeasure with the arrangements by that evening and informed GWK about having taken bookings elsewhere. The promotion reminded him about the noble cause for the event he’d ditched, and he was even implored to take another flight, as the fans had paid to see him. The former NXT tag team champion then ghosted the promoters until Wednesday afternoon.

As far as the complaints raised by Riddle about his flight, including no meals at all, GWK said it had sent him a screenshot on Friday that clearly showed a couple of meals were to be served to him. The allocation of his seat was incomplete as he hadn’t checked in online, and the issues with luggage could’ve been resolved with a simple phone call, said GWK in its statement.
This unfortunate incident has once again underscored the problematic side of Riddle, who was fired by WWE in September 2023. Those in the company said that he’d burned way too many bridges despite having been given a ton of opportunities.
The ex-MMA fighter is also being dragged for his previous comments calling CM Punk out for being a headache to work with. It’s worth noting that Riddle has never shared a locker room with ‘The Best in the World’ to make such a bold claim about Punk’s conduct since his WWE return in late 2023.
