Since his release from WWE, Matt Riddle has competed in numerous different promotions. However, because no promotion is bigger than WWE, the attendance figures are usually lower in comparison. As such, The Original Bro, who was once considered the future of WWE, now has to wrestle in front of a few people.

However, his WWE run was nothing like this, as he did find success, winning the U.S. Championship and Raw Tag Team Championship. Perhaps one of the greatest moments in his career came when he retained the tag titles with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 38. The duo of Riddle and Orton delivered one of their best performances in front of jam-packed crowds at the Show of Shows, at the peak of their popularity.

After The Viper suffered a back injury and went out of action, Matt Riddle returned to singles competition. However, he failed to replicate the same success and popularity he enjoyed alongside the 14-time world champion. Finally, after numerous feuds with various superstars over a year, the 38-year-old star announced his departure from the company on September 22 last year.

Since then, he has performed in promotions such as MLW and NJPW, winning a few championships along the way. Although Riddle is enjoying his wrestling right now, he may not be able to achieve the success he did in WWE. Hence, only time will tell what the future holds for The Original Bro. 

Fans react to the “downfall” of Matt Riddle after his WWE departure

A recent post on social media about him performing in front of 60 people garnered many fans’ attention. While some of them blamed Riddle himself for this, others supported him during his struggling times.

One fan accused Riddle of being responsible for his own ‘downfall’ because he chose drugs over his career. Many fans were hopeful and desired to watch Riddle perform again in WWE. One user mentioned that his actions towards other superstars like Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg backstage were another reason for his downfall.
