Another day, another golfer seen losing their cool. A day after Tyrrell Hatton found himself on the receiving end of huge criticism for his actions, Matt Wallace now finds himself in hot waters. The golfer’s action during the final round of the DP World Tour Championship has not sat well with the fans.
In Round three of the season finale in Dubai, Hatton got frustrated at the par-5 14th hole and snapped his golf club. This hole once again came in the spotlight during the final round as Wallace hit a poor shot.
The 34-year-old ended up missing the fairway and was forced to lay up. While being upset by his shot, Wallace slammed his club on the greens and damaged the fairways.
This led to Sky Sports commentator Dame Laura Davies initially siding with him and saying, “He’s completely misjudged that, yeah I don’t blame him“. However, instead of fixing the spot, both Wallace and his caddie walked away which led to Davies to urge that he should repair that and it was not “very nice” to leave it like that.

Tour Professionals and their caddies are expected to repair any such damage on the greens if caused intentionally by them. In this situation though, Wallace and caddie did not stop to fix it and just walked away from the scene.
Wallace finished the round with a score of 1-under 71 while firing a bogey on the 14th hole. He wrapped the event T11 with a score of 8-under 280, seven shots behind eventual winner Rory McIlroy.
After the round, Wallace did take to his X account to break the silence. However, it was not for his actions on this hole but regarding his performance on the day.
Disappointing day but not all days or weeks are supposed to be easy. Enjoyed the battle and we go again to finish off a great end to my @DPWorldTour year ⚫️⚫️? pic.twitter.com/Cd5N12sB2X

Wallace isn’t nearly good enough to act like this.

Should be automatic DQ. Play better.

Wallace and Hatten just a couple of clowns, this “angry” act is getting tired

This is though not the first time his conduct has been questioned. At the Valspar Championship in Florida last year, he was seen shredding his caddie and yelling, “shut the f*** up“. Whereas during the 2019 British Masters, he slammed his putter after missing a putt that eventually cost him the title.
