Daniil Medvedev had a near perfect end to 2020 and start to the year 2021. He finished the year by winning the Paris Masters and the ATP World Tour Finals and taking an unbeaten streak into the Finals of the Australian Open 2021. Medvedev  then went on to win the Open 13 as well, and that win propelled him to World no.2 in the rankings.

In the last few weeks though, Medvedev has had to withdraw from the Monte Carlo Masters as he tested Covid positive. He has just made his way back on court and will be playing his first match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round of the ATP Madrid Open.

Italian tennis player and World No.10 Berrettini has said that he finds Daniil Medvedev the most annoying player and that is not because of his personality but his style of play. He says that the Russian has a peculiar way of hitting his backhand. The Italian said that Medvedev’s backhand comes out like a slice and is difficult to pick. Berrettini ended on a serious note by saying that Medvedev is the second best player in the world, and that’s because he is annoying/ difficult to play against.
