However, the most important innings of Pant’s career has been the 89* on Day 5 at the Gabba to win the Test series for Team India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2020-21. Matthew Hayden praised Pant, emphasizing his strong muscle memory and desire to win.

The former Australian opener, wants to see how the Indian batting line-up having a combination of newcomers and experienced players step up to the challenge of batting in Australian conditions.

Pant suffered a horrific and near fatal car crash in 2022. He sustained many injuries and was out of cricket field for one and half years. He made his comeback through IPL 2024 for Delhi Capitals. After the IPL, he was part of the T20 World Cup winning squad in West Indies and USA. He also made his comeback in the ODI squad in the series against Sri Lanka.
