It was a good day for Washington Commanders fans as Jayden Daniels led the team to its first playoff win in nearly two decades. One of the happiest is Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who had been waiting for this day since ’74. The actor couldn’t contain his happiness as he took to social media to congratulate a rather huge list of names on the Commanders’ win.
On Commanders’ Sunday night’s match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former bagged a 23-20, marking the first playoff win since 2005. McConaughey immediately took to X to express his excitement and send out his wishes. The actor congratulated the Commanders backstage team, Josh Harris, Adam Peters, and Dan Quinn, who worked relentlessly to this point. Furthermore, he acknowledged the players and the fans, which included himself as well.
McConaughey, a Texas native, previously revealed having always been a Washington Commanders’ fan. In an interview way back in 2020, he opened up about the wordplay that inclined him to the team. Hilariously, he credited it to his favorite player, Chris Hanburger, which sounded like his favorite fast food. McConaughey’s degree of fanaticism went to the extent of the actor wanting to purchase the team back in 2022 before Josh Harris had acquired it.
