Detroit Lions fans often take the opportunity to remind Matthew Stafford that they’ve moved on, now rallying behind Jared Goff. However, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback remains unfazed by their comments.
On Sunday, Ford Field saw the rematch of last season’s wild-card round, in which Stafford and the Rams lost to the Lions. The local fans inside the stadium booed him constantly, even though he wore the Detroit Sky Blues for a decade.
It was more of the same when he came back for the 2024 opening season game as boos trickled down from the stands mixed with cheers for Goff. It worked because the Lions ended up winning the game 26-20 even though Stafford completed 34/49 for 317 yards with a passer rating of 69.8, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.
During the post-match press conference, he was asked whether the chants for Goff and the boos bothered him or not.
It’s fine with me.Matthew Stafford said
One of the reporters followed that up with if Detroit is just another place to play. “Yes,” replied Stafford.
Is Matthew Stafford over the Jared Goff chants and getting booed by Detroit?

Matthew Stafford on the atmosphere inside the Ford Field
The Lions are a formidable side under head coach Dan Campbell. Last season, they lost the NFC crown in the final moments of the game against the San Francisco 49ers. Campbell’s side are once more favorites to reach not just the conference championship but also the Super Bowl, according to ESPN.

Michigan, which has some of the best college football programs in the country, long waited for the days when the state’s only NFL side would be strong enough for them to be proud of it. Those days have finally arrived, and Ford Field is one of the most vocal places to visit for any away side.
When the reporters asked Matthew Stafford’s opinion about his experience playing in the stadium, the veteran quarterback said it was fun.
I thought it was a fun place to play, crowd was into it. Obviously, a great football game. That helps. That helps make the crowd get into it. Back and forth all day, so it was a good atmosphere.Matthew Stafford said
For those of you asking if the #Lions gave Matthew Stafford any sort of tribute last night, no, they did not.

I’m not saying a celebration was necessary, but I also don’t think he deserved to be booed (again) by our city.

They also tried to comb out some information about his ankle. The multiple-time Pro Bowler was moving gingerly on occasion. However, Stafford refrained from elaborating on it.
I’ll let you know tomorrow. Well, I won’t, but...Matthew Stafford added
Excluding the Rams Swiss cheese offensive line, Sean McVay’s side looked solid. Up next, they will play the Arizona Cardinals in week 2 but have to line up without second-year receiver Puka Nacua as he has been placed on the injured reserve list.
