On Sunday, in a fiery NFC West clash at Lumen Field, the Seattle Seahawks held on to defeat arch-rivals the Los Angeles Rams, advancing to the first Super Bowl game in more than a decade. The Seahawks’ win also meant that former Rams wideout and Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp will have one more chance to win the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy once again.
Kupp, who joined the Seahawks last August after parting ways with the Rams, had four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown that extended their lead to 11 points. He brought out one of the best performances he has had for Seattle.
Along with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Kupp was merciless toward the Rams’ secondary. Despite the role he played in the Rams’ loss on Sunday, Matthew Stafford rose above the pain to congratulate his former teammate on his success.
After the game ended, Stafford stayed behind and chased down Kupp before leaving the field. After spotting him, Stafford shared a tight embrace with him in one of the wholesome moments in recent history.

Though they don’t don the same jerseys anymore, the duo share a close bond from their time together. Stafford and Kupp played together for four seasons, which included a Super Bowl-winning campaign. Kupp was undeniably a beast in that season, leading the receivers’ chart, winning OPOY and Super Bowl MVP as the Rams rallied to beat a Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals.
The duo’s wives, Anna Kupp and Kelly Stafford, also shared a connection. Kelly had blasted the media when Kupp was traded to the Rams. Later, she also revealed that she missed hanging out with Anna. Anna had thanked the Staffords for their support in a pointed comment at the Rams. It has all worked out for the Kupps as they stand one game away from yet another championship win.
In addition to Stafford, Kupp also shared a moment with Puka Nacua.
Cooper Kupp joins the ranks of LeBron James en route to the Super Bowl LX clash with the New England Patriots
Appearing in the NFC Championship game against his former team, Cooper Kupp became the fifth ever individual to face their former team in a final four game after winning an MVP in the NBA Finals/World Series/Super Bowl. The last time this happened, it was half a decade ago.

LeBron James faced the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals 2020 while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. James and the Lakers went on to defeat the Heat in Game 6.
Cooper Kupp is just the 5️⃣th NBA Finals/World Series/Super Bowl MVP all-time to face the team they won the MVP with in the “Final Four” of the playoffs 👀

This is the first such occurrence since LeBron James faced the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals with the Lakers 😮💨… pic.twitter.com/QVz74qZrMK
As the Seahawks set up a final clash against the New England Patriots, Kupp stands to be part of another NFL history. Almost 70 players have previously won a Super Bowl with two different teams. Nine of those have been wide receivers; Torrey Smith was the last to do so, winning the Super Bowl XLVII with the Baltimore Ravens and Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles.
If Cooper Kupp manages to secure the Super Bowl MVP against the Patriots in two weeks, he could become the first-ever non-quarterback to win two Super Bowl MVPs. In fact, he will be the seventh person ever to win the award multiple times. Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, and Patrick Mahomes are the only ones to do so. He would also become the second, after Brady, to do so with different teams.
Across the four major North American franchise leagues, there have been only seven individuals with a Finals MVP for different teams. Reggie Jackson and Corey Seager in the World Series, Patrick Roy in the NHL postseason, and LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the NBA Finals.
The Patriots aren’t an easy foe. The Patriots’ postseason run has cemented them as a dominant offense, having beaten the best-ranked defenses in the league to reach Super Bowl LX.
