Football is a team game and even while individual performances can sway the game for a team, ultimately, a player can only contribute on either defense or offense. If one arm of the team fares well but the other does not then the team loses irrespective. Such is the case with the Cincinnati Bengals who have dazzled on offense but disappointed on defense.
Joe Burrow has been having a phenomenal season having thrown for 3,028 yards and 27 touchdowns yet the Bengals sit third in the AFC North with a 4-7 record. He is not the first quarterback that finds himself in this odd situation. Matthew Stafford found himself in similar waters back when he was playing for the Detroit Lions.
Kelly Stafford, wife of the Los Angeles Rams quarterback is reminded of the days her husband used to play in Detroit. After all, he had seven 4,000+ yard seasons during his time with the Lions and one 5,000-yard season. Yet, the best Stafford could do was a first-round exit on three separate occasions in the playoffs.
Kelly Stafford can understand the frustration that Joe Burrow is going through
The wife of the LA Rams quarterback expressed her sympathy for Joe Burrow on the Morning After podcast. She has seen her husband feel helpless for all those years.
WOW: Kelly Stafford says Joe Burrow's situation with the #Bengals reminds her of when her husband Matthew was with the #Lions.

Matthew Stafford was never the problem in Detroit but he did not have the right culture and support system around him.
He was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and in 2022, he went on to lead the team to a Super Bowl win. When surrounded by the right players, Stafford thrived. Joe Burrow deserves to be given all the support that he can. The primary issue with the Bengals has been their defense. They rank in the bottom of the NFL and have been struggling to stop the run game.
Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have continued to be elite on offense. However, there is only so much that the offense is capable of doing. To win football games, the offense and the defense must be on the same page but in the case of the Bengals, the offense and defense are on two different chapters entirely. The team is hoping to make a playoff push as the season nears its end but that task will be easier said than done.
