Joe Burrow ranks second among the NFL quarterbacks this season. The Cincinnati Bengals, on the other hand, are 4-7 after 11 games and remain on the verge of missing out on post-season football for two years in a row.

Zac Taylor’s team lost six games with one score or less. They are second from bottom in the AFC North and have just one extra win compared to the bottom team, the Cleveland Browns, who have been statistically one of the worst in the entire conference.

Several analysts and former players acknowledged the Bengals secondary letting the team down, leaving Burrow to do the heavy lifting. This sorry state of affairs reminded Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford’s Detroit Lions days. During a recent segment of her Morning After podcast, Kelly drew parallels between her husband’s initial years in Detroit and the current status of Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

I am a little heartbroken for Joe Burrow. To be honest, it is reminding me of when Matthew played on the Lions for a bit.

Stafford pointed out Burrow’s skills with the ball, while discussing the Bengals’ 34-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

Like you can tell how good and talented he is, it’s just the team is not winning, and that is frustrating. I texted Matthew [Stafford] and I was ‘I kind of feel like I feel for him. Because I felt for you in those times.

Joe Burrow isn’t worried about the playoffs

The Bengals served the bye week post-Chargers game and divisional leaders, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in Week 13. It’s a make-or-break game for the Bengals if they wish to play in the playoffs.

As per the FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bengals dropped to +390 in the playoff contention. However, Joe Burrow isn’t thinking about January just yet; his primary goal is to win the next game (Steelers).

I’m not worried about the playoffs at this point. I’m worried about trying to play my best, be as consistent as I can, get our offense to an even higher level, and continue to create big plays. Put points on the board. And I’m just focused on trying to be the best that I can be.

The defense must get their act together in the remaining games. Burrow has been exceptional this year, completing 274 passes for 3028 yards (67.2% completion rate), 27 touchdowns, and just four interceptions (106.9 quarterback rating), but he too can’t slack off. Otherwise, they can kiss the playoffs goodbye.
