Chelsea are having one of their worst seasons post-Roman Abramovich takeover. This season could be the first time the club could finish outside the top six for consecutive seasons since 1996. With such poor form, the club is in shambles, with no proper communication between owners and managers.

Chelsea will face Aston Villa on 27th April in Villa Park. This match just comes days after their 5-0 loss to rivals Arsenal at the Emirates. Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, spoke to the press on the day before they face Villa and admitted he rarely talks to the club’s owners.

No. To be honest, in the last few months, we didn't cross, or message. We communicated through the sporting directors but nothing has changed. We are not changing my view or my feeling, even in the last few weeks we are not crossing texts.

Pochettino also spoke about his possible removal from the post of Chelsea manager. He said he needs to improve to ensure he can stay at the club next season. He added that everyone at the club was responsible for the situation they were in, but needed to prove that they needed to stay at Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino admits Chelsea struggle without star midfielder

Cole Palmer has been the find of the season for Chelsea, with the midfielder challenging Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot. The midfielder, who was purchased from Manchester City for $50 million, has scored 25 goals and assisted 13 times.

He recently missed out on Chelsea’s 5-0 thrashing to the Gunners due to illness, but has begun training for the Aston Villa fixture. When asked by the press if Chelsea were a better team with Palmer starting, Mauricio Pochettino admitted the side needed him. This statement comes days after he admitted he wanted to prove Chelsea weren’t “Cole Palmer FC”.

We can talk, we can talk, we can talk, but in the end this is the reality. Cole is a very good player for us and he is a key player. He is showing we struggle a little bit without him. That is the reality we cannot hide.

Pochettino wants his team to be tough and strong for their clash with Villa. He added that he hopes his team will trust the philosophy, playing the way they prepared for the match. The Blues are currently 9th in the league, with 47 points. They can still qualify for European competitions, but it will be a tough road for them.
