Dallas Mavericks fans in particular are livid that GM Nico Harrison traded away their franchise cornerstone for an older player in Anthony Davis.

However, the trade for Davis gave the indication that the Mavericks want to win now. They understood their shortcomings from last season’s NBA Finals run. Along with Doncic’s injury troubles during that run and this season, the franchise decided they had to move on.

Anthony Davis brings with him the ability to perform at both ends of the floor. However, it seems the team still needed a proven playoff performer or two and GM Nico Harrison was rumored to be on the lookout. Then ESPN’s NBA Insider Shams Charania dropped another ball earlier today.

The Philadelphia 76ers are trading Caleb Martin to the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell ESPN. Dallas is sending Quentin Grimes and Philadelphia’s 2025 second-round pick back to the 76ers for Martin, sources tell ESPN.

This means the Dallas Mavericks sent out a 24-year-old former 1st round pick with a lot of upside for a 29-year-old veteran. Their focus is on winning now and Nico Harrison has already made that clear. Caleb Martin‘s exploits against the Boston Celtics in the past are the reason the organization wanted him to be a part of their NBA title push.
