It has been nearly three weeks since the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic away to the Los Angeles Lakers. They do have some players injured at the moment. But when those players return, many consider the franchise to be a legitimate threat for an NBA title.

That is also what owner Patrick Dumont and GM Nico Harrison had in mind. They were possibly frustrated with Doncic’s constant conditioning woes and lack of a drive. In Anthony Davis, they get a player ready to take them to the next step.

That next step will see the franchise win its second ever NBA title. That will also mean that the Dallas Mavericks will finally enter their post-Mark Cuban phase as winners under the new regime. It seems they took that notion to heart when they released their latest hype video.

The hype video spans all of two minutes and fourteen seconds. In that entire time, they have featured Anthony Davis countless times from his lone game with his new team. At the same time, they tried to showcase players who are currently on the squad.

Which meant, a few clips did appear where it seemed they were trying to remove Luka Doncic out of the equation. They replaced him with a silhouette and a team logo. They probably could not avoid showing that clip, so they did their best to try and remove him from this hype video. But that attempt was foolhardy at best.

Dallas Mavericks fans have been the barbarians at the gates ever since Luka Doncic was traded away. Their protests led to ejections from the American Airlines Center and the franchise had to hire additional security after death threats seemingly landed at Nico Harrison’s feet.

Now after owner Patrick Dumont’s controversial words, fans were not having it with this hype video. They were livid that the team are doing everything to remove their former generational star’s history from the team. Check out examples of their frustrated comments from social media below.

Owner Patrick Dumont was surprised when fans booed him mercilessly at his own arena. He probably did not envision how his team’s fans would react. But they traded away the one thing Mavericks fans looked forward to.
