Dallas Mavericks fans did not appreciate it when GM Nico Harrison traded Luka Doncic away to the Los Angeles Lakers. To this day, they believe he was wrong to let go of a young franchise cornerstone to bring in a center in his 30s.
The anger may have subsided, but Harrison and the Mavericks did not do themselves any favors with the manner in which they tried to suppress fan protests.
Kicking out fans displaying “fire Nico” posters and those who were joining in the chants led to even louder protests at various places in the city of Dallas. Then the diplomatic and restricted media sessions infuriated them more.
Many feel the organization could have handled it better after the initial wave of death threats and protests outside the American Airlines Center. Instead, majority owner Patrick Dumont and Harrison continued to face boos and chants.
It has been months, and die-hard fans are eagerly looking forward to next season. But it seems they still have hard feelings about the trade. At least this one fan displayed his annoyance towards Nico Harrison in the most unhinged manner.
Nico, what’s up, man? We all still… hate you.

As he was about to let go of the Mavs GM’s hand, the 52-year-old former Nike executive responded with something that is unclear in the video. Then the fan continually says, “Do better,” as he walks away with his friends.
Fans flame Mavs troll for unwanted shot at Nico Harrison
When this clip reached social media, it immediately went viral. Fans were infuriated by the man in the video, who did not seem to keep in mind that Nico Harrison was having dinner with his family at the Twin Peaks restaurant.
Fans believe trolls like this should keep their opinions for the games and not invade an individual’s private space. On top of that, it has been months since the trade, and the GM should be given time to see how his experiment pans out.
Fans believe such behavior is that of someone looking for clout and should not be allowed in such places or should be reprimanded for their petty behavior. Check out examples of such reactions below:
This is loser behavior and I know big man thought he had his moment, but this is embarrassing.

No reason to do this in public… yeah the guy might not be great at his job, but he's still a human. Yell at him in the arena, not at a restaurant.

Nico Harrison’s family looked on in utter shock when this man went up and confronted him. It seems the GM and President of Basketball Operations have to rehire security, at least until the fruits of his labor become evident later this upcoming season.
Nico Harrison’s job depends on how Mavs perform in upcoming season
If a Dallas Mavericks fan had to look at the months after Luka Doncic was traded, they would be enraged at what was transpiring in the franchise. Multiple injuries forced questions about whether Nico Harrison had thought this through.

After all, the player he brought in, Anthony Davis, in particular, was no stranger to injury, and he suffered two of them in a space of 4 months. If this continues, the Mavs will not perform to their potential.
The former Nike executive has since made changes to the team’s medical and training staff, hoping they can avoid injuries next season. Even then, the team will only show its true powers once Kyrie Irving returns.
Until then, the team has to be careful in managing their roster so that they are healthy before the postseason. A title is not out of their realm, as many analysts believe the Mavericks are one of the best bets to unseat the Oklahoma City Thunder.
For that to happen, a lot of things have to be right. Nico Harrison and owner Patrick Dumont should hope that it does, as if it doesn’t, expect more and more such instances to happen in the future.
