Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl commented about club forward Harry Kane‘s recent goal-drought in the Bundesliga. Highlighting the necessity of his goal-scoring prowess, Eberl expressed his opinion on the forward’s inability to score from open play.

Harry Kane began his Bayern Munich career with a bang, having scored 44 goals and provided another 12 assists in his debut campaign. Despite the club remaining trophy-less throughout the season, the 31-year-old striker became a fan favorite at the Allianz Arena. He has continued with his great form this season as well, scoring 22 goals in 24 matches to remain atop the Bundesliga top-scorers chart.

However, the Englishman has not been at his best in his last few matches for the club, raising concern not just among fans, but also among the Bayern leadership. Kane has scored just twice in his last eight appearances, with both of those goals coming from the penalty spot. The ex-Tottenham forward’s last goal from open play came against Augsburg back in November, where he went on to score a hat-trick.

Following Bayern’s recent 3-0 defeat to Feyenoord in the UCL, director Max Eberl opened up about Harry Kane’s recent struggles. Kane had a rather ordinary outing against the Dutch side, recording just five shots throughout the match. While Eberl refrained from worrying about the forward’s form, he did specify the need for his goals. He also noted Kane’s ability to stage a comeback, and return back to form.

Harry [Kane] is the least of my worries. He hasn’t scored from open play for a long time, but he also was injured… Of course, we need his goals. But I don’t think it’s causing a mental problem for Harry.

I have to be honest, Feyenoord deserved their win…We had many chances. I felt we could have scored one, two or more goals.
