Max Holloway remains a major name in the UFC lightweight division despite losing the BMF belt to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. As PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov’s potential UFC debut nears, his manager Ali Abdelaziz has targeted Holloway as a potential opponent. The UFC veteran has now responded to Abdelaziz’s demeaning comments.

Nurmagomedov’s UFC debut has become a major talking point since his knockout victory over Archie Colgan at PFL New York. The Dagestani star hinted at a potential UFC move afterward, with the fight marking his final bout before free agency. Rumors surrounding Nurmagomedov’s next destination have continued ever since.

Abdelaziz has managed Nurmagomedov for years and recently assessed the current UFC lightweight division. He claimed only Arman Tsarukyan could seriously challenge his client, while believing Nurmagomedov would “demolish” Holloway. However, Holloway recently dismissed the Dominance MMA manager’s comments during a Kick stream.

Nurmagomedov has hinted that the best financial opportunity could influence his next career decision after free agency. He discussed the financial factor during the PFL New York press conference after beating Colgan. Abdelaziz also revealed that the PFL could hold the upper hand because of Nurmagomedov’s loyalty.

Abdelaziz also manages Holloway’s potential next opponent, UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. The newly crowned champion has expressed interest in defending his title against Holloway to avenge their UFC 300 meeting. The Hawaiian veteran secured a last-minute knockout victory in that bout to win the BMF belt.

Holloway is also coming off a disappointing outcome at UFC 329 after facing Conor McGregor in their rematch. The Irishman returned after five years away, but the bout ended with a first-round leg injury. Holloway was awarded a TKO victory, earning him a spot back in the win column intact despite the unusual finish.

Abdelaziz remains one of MMA’s most controversial managers and frequently attracts criticism from fighters and fans over his social media behavior. The Egyptian native has faced repeated scrutiny for his online activity and the rivalries surrounding his clients. Many fans have also accused him of controlling his fighters’ social media accounts and creating feuds on their behalf.

Max Holloway’s latest response makes it clear that he does not appreciate others creating rivalries on his behalf. He previously called out MMA Insider Ariel Helwani for attempting to instigate a rivalry between him and Jorge Masvidal. With Usman Nurmagomedov’s UFC future still uncertain, Holloway’s stance adds another layer to their potential matchup.

Max Holloway clarifies the recent controversy surrounding his wife

Max Holloway has remained closely connected to his family throughout his UFC career while also maintaining his passion for surfing. The UFC star is married to professional surfer Alessa Quizon, and the couple regularly shares their surfing lifestyle. Holloway also has a son, Rush, from a previous marriage, and has often included him in his life outside competition.

Holloway and Quizon began dating in February 2020 before getting engaged later that year. Holloway announced their engagement in November 2020, after their relationship developed around their shared connection to Hawaii and surfing. They married on April 16, 2022, at Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute in Ko Olina, Hawaii, marking the next stage of their relationship.

Quizon recently revealed that Holloway pursued her for years before they eventually began dating in 2020. She explained that she initially left his messages unanswered while she was in another relationship. The story resurfaced after the interview clip circulated online, prompting the former BMF champion to publicly defend his wife and clarify the circumstances.

She was engaged while leaving me on read for 5 years. lol. So if anything I’m an ass that kept reaching out. I lived by a code though if you have a bf and he can’t defend your honor you have a girlfriend hahaha, She was a professional surfer and actually really good at it. She has her own money

UFC fighters’ partners often face backlash when fans misunderstand their relationships. Ilia Topuria’s ex-wife Giorgina Uzcategui went to the Spanish National Police after harassment following their divorce. That makes Max Holloway’s defense of Alessa Quizon’s recent comments particularly significant.
