Max Holloway has shown nothing but respect for his opponent, Justin Gaethje, since their fight at UFC 300. The pair didn’t hold back and tried their best to destroy each other in the fight. Despite winning the bout via KO, Holloway didn’t escape the brutal power of the ‘Highlight’ and its aftermath.

During one of his latest Kick streams, Max Holloway showed his bruised-up leg and also talked about Gaethje’s leg kicks. Leg kicks remain one of Gaethje’s best weapons. He has used the leg kicks to the best effect in the lightweight division. Nevertheless, Holloway overcame it and knocked out ‘The Highlight’ in the last second of the bout.

Early in the fight, Holloway broke Gaethje’s nose, which made it harder for the former BMF champ to breathe. However, this didn’t stop the Arizona-born star from using his outrageous kicks to incur damage to Holloway’s legs. It helped Gaethje to a point, but the Hawaiian fighter got the better of the striking exchange.

Legendary lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov once mentioned that Gaethje ‘hits like a truck.’ The damage factor in Gaethje’s fight remains among the most brutal in the UFC. As such, fighters will have suffered serious injuries from the bout. Just look at his bouts against Rafael Fiziev, Tony Ferguson, and Michael Chandler. Nevertheless, Holloway escaped serious damage, unlike most fighters.

With only ten seconds on the clock, the fighters went on a swing fest, resulting in Holloway flooring Gaethje. Recently, Holloway uploaded a video on his YouTube channel where he spoke about the BMF title fight. He spoke about the feeling inside the octagon as he landed punches on ‘The Highlight.’

I was hurting him, I was hurting, but f***** a hurt lion is more dangerous. Every time I hurt him, he had the craziest look in his eyes. I was like, ‘F*** this. I ain’t trying nothing dumb.

At the height of all the madness, Holloway was aware of being careful and not doing anything unnecessary. However, it seems like he was able to calm his nerves and take home a historic win and a whopping $600k bonus. The future looks bright for Holloway and it is impossible to imagine his comeback after the brutal loss to Alexander Volkanovski in their third fight in 2022.
