6-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa has not had the best of times on the green recently. The golfer has struggled with form. Ahead of the John Deere Classic, he would speak on his decision to quit social media and drop a massive NSFW message.
Homa, the 34-year-old golfer, was highly active on X. He would constantly engage with the fans and share his thoughts, and even make some jokes. However, he has suffered a dip in his form. All of this led to many trolling him heavily on X.
In March this year, he would call the platform a “sick” place. On Wednesday, in the press conference of the John Deere Classic, he opened up on his decision to leave the platform and dropped some strong statements.
Twitter or X is an awful, awful place. It took me a while to catch onto how impactful that can be and how much of a waste of energy… It’s a safe haven for a******, for lack of a better term. Sorry PGA TOUR.
Homa did admit that he misses the fans and connecting with them. However, these days he is more into connecting with people personally than spending time on social media and going through some mean messages.

This is not the first time Homa has termed X as an ‘awful‘ place. In January this year, he would drop the names of Michael Jordan and LeBron James and express how people had made personalities on the social media platform just to debate who the ‘G.O.A.T’ was.
Max Homa looking to turn season around at John Deere Classic
To say things have not gone well for Max Homa this year would be a major understatement. The California-born golf star has suffered a massive slump in 2025. He is hoping to turn his season around at the upcoming John Deere Classic.

Homa has undergone several changes. New swing, new coaches, new equipment. However, none of this has so far brought him the desired results he wants.
At one stage in 2023, he was ranked 5th in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), which was his career best. He has now fallen in these rankings and finds himself ranked No.99 in the world at the moment.
In the 16 events that he has played this year, he has only managed one top-25 finish. That was at the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National, where he finished T12. He has no top-10 finishes this year and has missed 7 cuts.
After making the cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he missed the cuts at the WM Phoenix Open, The Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players Championship, and the Valero Texas Open. Last week the Rocket Classic, there was no change in fortune for him as he fired scores of 71 and 70 and missed the cut again.
This week, he will make his first appearance at the John Deere Classic since 2017. Ahead of this, he admitted that he has not been “sharp” this year.
Yeah, my game isn’t particularly sharp. Obviously, I haven’t played well this year or great lately, either.
Homa was one of the top names who failed to make it to the U.S. Open. He would fail in the final qualifying round and had to watch the action at the Oakmont course from the sidelines.

On Thursday, Homa will tee off with Rickie Fowler, who has had a similar dip in form, and Jake Knapp at 7:40 a.m. from the 10th tee at the John Deere Classic. He will enter this tournament ranked 122nd in the FedEx Cup standings.
