The Los Angeles Dodgers repeated as World Series champions as they overcame the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in extra innings in Game 7. Third baseman Max Muncy would defend his team and clap back at the critics who had been downplaying their triumph.

The Dodgers have often been slammed for their spending. The team has many times faced criticism of “ruining baseball” with their offseason roster moves.

A few portions of fans would once again attack the Dodgers after they mounted an epic comeback and snatched the title away from the gasp of the Toronto Blue Jays. Meanwhile, Sportsnet analyst Caleb Joseph claimed that the “best team” did not win the series.

It’s gonna sound like sour grapes and I don’t really give a s***, but I think the better team did not win this series…

Kike Hernandez would later throw a shade at Joseph for this comments. The outfielder would take to his Instagram account and post a picture of him with the trophy and wrote, “I’M SO HAPPY THE BETTER TEAM DIDN’T WIN!! #MyGuys.”

Max Muncy was the one who kick-started the Dodgers’ comeback in the 8th inning. The 35-year-old smashed a towering solo home run against Trey Yesavage. His home run cut the deficit to 4-3.

In the next inning, Miguel Rojas tied the game after clubbing a solo home run off Jeff Hoffman on a 3-2 count. Some excellent defensive plays in the bottom of the 9th inning from the Dodgers took the game into extra innings.

In the 11th inning, Will Smith hit the third solo home run of the game for the Dodgers. The catcher sent the ball flying into left field and put his side 5-4 up. A double play in the next frame saw the Dodgers repeat as champions.

On Tuesday, Muncy appeared on the Foul Territory podcast. During this, he chirped back at the critics of the team who claimed that the “best team” did not win the World Series.

It’s funny how, back-to-back years, the best team didn’t win, or that’s what people say. I’m really happy the best team didn’t win… A seven-game series, that’s enough games for teams to kind of separate themselves a little bit… I always felt like the team that is going to win is going to separate themselves a little bit.

Statistically, the Blue Jays were the better team than the Dodgers in this best-of-seven contest. They outscored them 34-26 and had 75 hits, 22 more than the Dodgers’ 53.

They also did not make a single fielding error. The Dodgers, meanwhile, had 3 errors through the seven games. Despite this, it was the National League side who held their nerves in tough moments and came out on top.

Kike Hernandez labels Dodgers as dynasty following back-to-back World Series titles

The Los Angeles Dodgers retained their crown on Saturday following a tough fought victory against the Toronto Blue Jays. On Monday, the team celebrated their triumph in front of their supporters at Dodger Stadium. During the celebration, Kike Hernandez labeled them as a dynasty.

This triumph was the Dodgers’ 3rd championship title in the last 6 years. Before their back-to-back victories, the LA-based side took down the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2020 World Series. This was their first victory since 1988.

During his celebratory speech, Hernandez went in hard and did not hold back. The outfielder expressed that he was done being “humble” and dropped some bold comments.

My teammates have been pretty humble, but I think it’s time to talk that s***. Everybody’s been asking questions about a dynasty. How about three in six years? How about back to back? We’re a mother f***** dynasty, baby.

Kike Hernandez said during the victory celebration

Hernandez and his team will now be looking to do something that has only been done 4 times in MLB history. Only 2 teams have won 3 or more straight titles.

The New York Yankees have three-peated the title 3 times (4-peat from 1936 to 1939), (5-peat from 1949 to 1953) and (3-peat from 1998 to 2000). The Athletics are the other team to do this, having won 3 consecutive titles from 1972 to 1974.
