Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy talks about how much he hated the whole Mookie Betts-Yankees fan situation in Game 4 of the World Series. Speaking on Foul Territory, Muncy commented that the New York Yankees are too soft on their fans.
Coming in contact with a player from the arena “should have been an instant lifetime ban from all MLB stadiums.” Instead, the fans were allowed to participate in Game 5 prior to getting warned by MLB. The league asked the organization to ban the fans from Game 5 participation.
However, they could attend an MLB game later in the future, which infuriated infielder Max Muncy. In an interview, the Yankees fan duo Austin Capobianco, and his friend John Peter, admitted that it was all pre-planned.
Apparently, they intended to interfere despite the consequences if it meant helping the team. But their actions were hardly accepted by any. Even the Yankees, including legendary play-by-play voice John Sterling, condemned their way of tackling things.

He added how there are “rabid fans” out there and some might do something like this again. So it is necessary to make sure the consequences are remembered by everyone to avoid any player getting hurt.
Mookie Betts also exclaimed how it was the second time in his life he ever wanted to fight someone. However, with the World Series tension high up in the air, the outfielder decided to sweep it under the rug.
Immediately after the incident, the Yankees duo was escorted outside of the ballpark and apparently spent the rest of the night at a club. Capobianco laughed about how “f****** hilarious” it was to see his friend Peter grab Betts’ right hand. Although he admitted that it crossed a line.
Max Muncy talks about Dodgers World Series victory and celebration
Max Muncy also spoke about on possibility of Shohei Ohtani taking the mound in a desperate situation in Game 5. During the discussion, he was asked how the scenario would have played if Walker Buehler failed to deliver in clutch time.
Even in that case, Ohtani would have been the last person to ask for help. The Japanese megastar is still recovering from his elbow surgery last fall. If it came to that, pitcher Daniel Hudson, who was already in the bullpen, would have to come to pitch.
However, Muncy admits that having Hudson play would’ve also been bad, as he was dealing with elbow issues. Nevertheless, Buehler got the final out necessary to prompt the team to a World Series victory in Game 5.

Max Muncy also spoke about how manager Dave Roberts‘ dance amused the fans all over social media. LA was adorned with celebrations as the Dodgers participated in the World Series parade.

But now with the World Series curtain fall, the attention is back on the free agency. The Dodgers will have to carefully strategize their next move in order to rack up their roster before the next 2025 season run.
