In Short
  • Jalen Hurts faces criticism from anonymous sources regarding his leadership and team dynamics.
  • Analyst Bill Barnwell suggests Maxx Crosby could help address the Eagles' locker room issues.
  • Acquiring Crosby may be costly for the Eagles, potentially requiring a first and second-round draft pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles are again back in the news, with Jalen Hurts‘ conduct last season being questioned after anonymous sources from inside the organization criticized the quarterback.

Most of the allegations stem from his alleged disinterest in running certain offensive schemes and how he supposedly made it all about himself at the expense of his teammates.

After the hit piece was published on ESPN, many have come forward to slam those ‘anonymous sources’. They felt the signal caller was being unnecessarily criticized despite leading the franchise to its second Super Bowl.

In fact, his performances in big games have been touted as the reason for the team’s success. However, those who have criticized Hurts in the past have often pointed to the elite roster the Eagles have put together in the last few seasons.

Along with AJ Brown‘s dissatisfaction, which has led to rumors of him being a target for other teams this offseason, many are debating whether Jalen Hurts’ supposed selfish motives have led to this supposed ‘fractured relationship.’

They need a culture change. Bringing in Maxx Crosby to that building, to that room where everybody was mad and angry and upset last year, I feel like it is the logical place (for him). It’s a risk, no question. But it’s the kind of risk Howie Roseman likes to take.

Bill Barnwell said on NFL Live

When finishing his analogy, the ESPN analyst suggested that by the end of November, Maxx Crosby and Big Dom will be doing a podcast together.

This drew laughs from his colleagues, but they did not react disapprovingly when he suggested that the Eagles should get the Raiders’ pass rusher.

Maxx Crosby could return the hunger inside the Eagles’ facilities

This trade idea might be wild for most football fans. The mere thought of Maxx Crosby, one of the hardest-working and productive pass rushers in the league, when healthy, joining the Eagles is another instance of the rich getting richer.

Fans will not like it, but maybe the franchise will benefit from the 28-year-old’s presence. It so happens that he is that one individual who has a voice loud enough for everyone to resonate, while also not being brash about himself.

After winning a Super Bowl, teams do tend to get complacent. In Jalen Hurts’ case, as has been alleged, he may have let the ego of winning Super Bowl LIX MVP get to his head.

Maybe they need someone who has the hunger that Crosby has. He knows what it is to be on a perennially losing team and how difficult it is to get a single win in the NFL.

That could help bring the fire back within the Philadelphia Eagles’ players, staff, and even the top brass. The sack artist might be the missing piece, both motivationally and in terms of skill and talent.

Maxx Crosby will be an expensive purchase for the Eagles

The sole reason Maxx Crosby is still on the trade market is that the Baltimore Ravens decided at the 11th hour not to go ahead with the deal they had hashed out with the Las Vegas Raiders.

They felt his injury may not be good enough to allow him to play all the games next season. However, unlike the Ravens, the Eagles can afford it if the father of one sits out for a few games at the start of the season.

If he can motivate that team with his drive, they have enough talent to win games until he is ready. The only problem is that getting the five-time Pro Bowler could be an expensive affair.

Even though the Raiders might not get two first-round picks anymore, they would still look for a first and a second-rounder from interested teams. For the organization, that is a steep price to pay.
