In Short
  • Maxx Crosby posted highlights of sacking Lamar Jackson on Instagram after a failed trade to the Ravens.
  • Crosby expressed his desire to leave the Raiders but was welcomed back after the trade fell through.
  • The Raiders and Ravens will not meet until the 2026 playoffs, where Crosby has previously excelled against Jackson.

After the unexpected collapse of his trade to the Baltimore Ravens, defensive end Maxx Crosby set his sights on the player he hopes to sack in the future: Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. After nearly sharing a locker room, these two athletes will face off against each other on the gridiron.

On Thursday, Crosby posted a photo on Instagram of himself completing a sack on Jackson. He may not say it out loud, but he is undoubtedly in a mood to take revenge on the AFC North franchise.

The last ten days were a roller coaster ride for not just Crosby but for the entire league. It was clear that Crosby wanted to leave the Las Vegas Raiders when the new league calendar began.

The word around the league was that General Manager John Spytek would only settle for a couple of first-round draft picks. With such a steep price, most teams stayed put, except for a few, the Patriots, Cowboys, Eagles, Bears, Bengals, and Ravens. Baltimore agreed to offer a 2026 and a 2027 first-round pick in exchange for the 28-year-old edge rusher. Jackson was among the first to react to the announcement with just one word: “WOW!!”

Crosby bid goodbye to the Raiders with the promise of one day re-signing with the Sin City franchise. No one predicted that the day would come the following week. The Ravens blocked the deal and eventually backed out of it after realizing the condition of Crosby’s surgically repaired knee.

According to league sources, several GMs and high-level executives were unhappy with the development. It forced them to recalibrate their free agency strategy. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta defended himself, saying that no one wanted Crosby in Baltimore’s purple more than he did.

I’ve got a responsibility to the Ravens, to this community, to the fans, and to Steve Bisciotti to do what we think is best for the club. And that’s what we try to do. Every decision we make is based on this idea, is this what’s best for the Ravens?

Crosby found himself on an isle. The Raiders made several signings with the increased cap space from the deal. That said, Spytek and new head coach Klint Kubiak, who wanted to keep Crosby in Vegas from the start, welcomed him back with open arms. In his first statement since his return, Crosby wrote:

Everything Happens For A Reason. Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That [expletive].

The Raiders won’t face the Ravens until the 2026 playoffs. In two previous meetings, Crosby is 2-0 against the Ravens and recorded 4 total sacks on Lamar Jackson.

Jerry Jones hints at pursuing Maxx Crosby

The Dallas Cowboys were among the early favorites to trade for Crosby before the Ravens made their offer, which the Raiders could not refuse. As the deal is now off, Dallas may re-engage in talks with Spytek and his crew.

Schuyler Dixon from the Associated Press chatted with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about Crosby.

We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are. So while I don’t anticipate it, I don’t want to rule anything out.

Jones revealed

However, the Raiders announced that they are no longer interested in trading Crosby. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted that “Crosby deal has four years left, at an average of $29 million per year.” It is highly unlikely for Crosby to ask for a raise anytime soon.
