- Maxx Crosby was set to be traded to the Baltimore Ravens but the deal collapsed after he failed a physical.
- Crosby described the Ravens' head coach and GM as having a 'cold' demeanor during the trade process.
- After the trade fell through, Crosby reaffirmed his commitment to the Raiders, feeling he was meant to stay with the team.
Up until a week ago, it was evident that the Las Vegas Raiders finally caved into letting go of star edge rusher Maxx Crosby after they agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
For the former, the deal made sense, as not only were they allowing a disgruntled player to leave, but they were also going to get two first-round picks in return.
Coupled with the cap savings they will be able to make once his salary is off the books, the Raiders were about to head into a rebuild flush with both cash and draft assets to splurge on.
They cited that Maxx Crosby had failed the physical, which saw them rescind the trade and hence receive their first-round picks back. Twelve hours later, they signed Trey Hendrickson.
After this sequence of events, many started to question the Ravens’ motives when first agreeing to the trade with the Raiders. Now, the person with most of the information speaks out.
I dap him (head coach Jesse Minter) up, and you can just tell the energy was a little bit off. The GM (Eric DeCosta) was standing in the hall, in the room next to me, to the right. And that was the first time I seen him.

The pass rusher went on to add that head coach Jesse Minter had a ‘blank’ look on his face, and that he did not meet GM Eric DeCosta for five hours after he reached their facilities, the same person who later said he wanted both Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson on the Ravens.
Maxx Crosby was ‘terrified’ after being informed of ‘concerns
At the time, Maxx Crosby thought it was just the way things are in Baltimore, and that the head coach and GM may have a thousand other things running through their minds with free agency approaching.
However, he then revealed how someone from the Ravens informed him that they had some ‘concerns’ about his knee. With his physical hanging in the balance, all sorts of things were running through the 28-year-old’s mind.
The first thought in my head, I was terrified… It just kind of hit me… Is there something wrong? I’m freaking out. Lowkey and deep down, I’m like, I can’t get another surgery… I’m like, ‘What is going on, bro?’

The Ravens flew Maxx Crosby commercial to DC, and then were asked to drive to Baltimore. Then the cold demeanor from both the head coach and the GM was again a telltale sign.
But their concerns about the injury and his recovery then led the Raiders star to feel the heat. By that time, it dawned on the five-time Pro Bowler that something was off.
Maxx Crosby reiterates his commitment to the Raiders
After all this happened, Crosby took a nap and spent time with his wife. A while later, he revealed getting a call from a Ravens staff member that they were trying to complete the trade.

However, five minutes later, his agent informs him that the Ravens were backing out of the deal. Then, after getting back to Las Vegas and to the Raiders, he understood where his calling was.
I wasn’t supposed to be in Baltimore, and that’s it. I’m meant to be a Raider. It’s through my damn core.

The pass rusher also stated how, before the trade being nixed, he realized the Raiders were blowing up free agency with stellar moves. Thankfully, for him, now he gets to be a part of it, even though earlier he wanted to leave the franchise that drafted him.
