In Short
  • Maxx Crosby will join the Baltimore Ravens after being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders.
  • Crosby expressed his desire to retire as a Raider, stating he "bleeds silver and black."
  • He earned two First-Team All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowl selections during his seven years with the Raiders.

When the new league year begins, Maxx Crosby will trade the silver and black of the Las Vegas Raiders for the purple of the Baltimore Ravens. The color of his jersey may have changed, but that doesn’t mean the love for the Raiders has left his heart.

Crosby still plans to return to the Raiders before hanging up his boots. The Raiders drafted Crosby in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft, when the club was still based in Oakland, California.

During his seven years with the Raiders, Crosby earned two First-Team All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowl selections, cementing his status as one of the league’s top edge rushers. The 28-year-old found the love of his life, Rachel Washburn (Crosby), and the pair got engaged in 2022. They moved into a $5.6 million mansion in Henderson County, Nevada.

Crosby and Rachel now need to search for a new home in Baltimore following his recent trade. The day after the trade announcement, Crosby shared a farewell video.

I wanted everything good for the Raiders. I bleed silver and black. That will never change.

It was pretty clear that Crosby’s time in Vegas was slowly coming to an end after the Pete Carroll regime benched him in order to acquire the first overall draft pick in the 2026 draft. Despite the move, Crosby reiterated his wish to stay with the team.

New head coach Klint Kubiak reassured the fans that the higher-ups had no intentions of allowing Crosby to leave. That said, football is a business, and there are times when teams must set aside their pride to make difficult decisions.

After a long week of discussions with teams such as the Cowboys, Patriots, and Ravens, general manager John Spytek agreed to the bid made by the Baltimore franchise. The Ravens sent a couple of first-round draft picks to the Raiders in exchange for the Eastern Michigan alum. The paperwork will be handled in Baltimore in due course, but Crosby has already made up his mind to join the Raiders once his time with the Ravens comes to an end.

I’m a Raider for life. I truly want to finish, when it’s all said and done, in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes.

Sean Payton offered to pay for Maxx Crosby’s trip to Baltimore

Crosby was among the few Raiders whom nobody wanted to mess with on the gridiron. His numbers speak for themselves. He jointly recorded the most tackles for loss (90) with the Browns’ Myles Garrett (two-time Defensive Player of the Year), and had accumulated 50+ sacks since 2021.

Three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time league MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes called Crosby the best pass rusher he has ever faced.

To me, [Crosby is] the best pass rusher that I’ve played against. No offense to any other pass-rusher, just putting it out there. [Maxx] is the best one I’ve been up against because he goes out there and he gives you the effort, he has the moves, and he has the skill. And I think it’s hard to have all three of those and do that year in and year out.

To assess how dominant Crosby was for the Raiders, Sean Payton, head coach of their AFC West rivals, the Broncos, offered to pay for his flight ticket to Baltimore.

The Raiders only recorded one winning season with Crosby on the team. That should change in Baltimore. Lamar Jackson and co are among the best teams in the AFC, even though 2025 was a down year for them.
