Daniil Medvedev has reaped more than satisfactory results this past year. He moved past Roger Federer to secure his spot as the World No.4. Further, and most astonishingly, the Russian made his season do a complete 180. The 24-year-old lifted two of the greatest titles consecutively, that of the Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals

In addition, Daniil also advanced to the U.S Open semis and got a hold of some records as well. For instance, he became the only player in history to vanquish the world’s top-three at the year-end championship in the same run.

Whilst this speaks to his resilience and true mastery as a tennis pro, his results on clay continue to prove to be quite a backlog. Medvedev has not made it past the first round of the French Open even once in his entire career. Moreover, he has been ousted from six consecutive tournaments in the first round that have taken place on clay.

Recently, a video has gone viral which features a 64-year-old Rafael Nadal claiming the Roland Garros title in 2050. The Spaniard lifted his 38th French Open title and expressed his joy for the same.

After watching this video, Medvedev took a dig at himself whilst seeming optimistic about finally qualifying the first round at the French Open.

On twitter, Daniil wrote, “Maybe by 2050 I can win a first-round at Roland Garros.”

Whilst Medvedev has good sense of humour and is a good sport, he will be aiming to solidify himself on another surface besides the hard-court. Next, he will be seen in action at the Australian Open 2021
