“Maybe win a round at Roland Garros?,” Daniil Medvedev’s hilarious reply on what he wants to achieve in 2021

Daniil Medvedev turned around his season in the final few weeks of the ATP Tour, after he clinched back to back titles at the Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals. The Russian went on a ten match unbeaten streak towards the end of the season and finished the year as the World Number four, ahead of Roger Federer.
Among the several things the Russian has achieved in the initial few stages of his career, a victory in the French Open is not one of those. Medvedev has failed to win a single match at the Roland Garros in his past four attempts. In a cheeky response to ATP’s tweet asking the fans about Medvedev’s potential achievements in 2021, the Russian replied, “Maybe win a round at Roland Garros?”
The tweet was accompanied by a few laughing emojis and showing how desperate the Russian was to finally win a match on the red clay in Paris.
Medvedev and his French Open struggles

This year, Daniil Medvedev entered the French Open with high hopes after he reached the US Open semifinals. However, in one of the major upsets in the opening round, the Russian lost to Marton Fucsovics in four sets which ended his disastrous clay court season which included a first round defeat at the Hamburg Open.
The Russian has also lost in the opening rounds of the French Open in 2017, 2018, 2019. Last year, he lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert in five-sets, in spite of being two sets to love. In 2018, he lost to another Frenchman, Lucas Pouille in straight sets. At his first appearance at the French Open in 2017, he lost to Benjamin Bonzi after he gave a walkover in the fourth set.
Daniil Medvedev is one of the top contenders on the hard-courts, but he really needs to step up his game on the clay-courts in the coming years. The clay-court season constitutes almost two months of the regular season and an improved game on the clay-courts can help the Russian challenge for more titles.
