“They have unfinished business” Kendrick Perkins picks Phoenix Suns as his top championship contender

The Phoenix Suns have come into this season with only one goal in mind, redemption. The reigning Western Conference champions made a finals appearance after ten long years last season only to be upset by the Milwaukee Bucks after gaining a head start of two games.

The Phoenix Suns emerged as the biggest surprise out of the 2020-21 season after acquiring a future Hall of Famer and current NBA “point god” Chris Paul whose veteran leadership and IQ elevated the team to a higher level.

Despite their unfortunate loss last season, the Suns have not shown signs of stopping and have ever been since battling it out to be best in the league. They have the best record in the league at the moment with 32 wins and 9 losses. It is very apparent that the team is out for blood and will not settle for any less than what they plan on achieving.

The Phoenix Suns overtake the Golden State Warriors as the best team in the NBA

Following their win against the Indiana Pacers, the manage solidified their position as the number one ranked team in the entire league over the second-best Golden State Warriors. Today’s Suns team went on an incredible 18-game win streak earlier this season and have been defeating teams left and right.

They rank top five in the league for points per game with an average of 111.8. They also rank third in the league in field goals with an average of 47.2% per game as well as third in points differential averaging +7.2 over their opponents. They are shooting 37% from deep and 80.5% from the free-throw line.

Devin Booker leads the team averaging 23.7% points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists along with 0.9 steals and 2.6 turnovers per game. He shoots 43.7% from the field, 40.9% on 6.6 attempts per game from deep, and records 87.1% from the foul line. Chris Paul leads the league in assists averaging 10 dishes per game along with 14 points and 2 steals per game. Deandre Ayton leads the team in rebounds with 11 rebounds per game and 17.1 points along with it.

Kendrick Perkins believes the Phoenix Suns will win the title

On being asked which teams were his top three picks to win the title this season, Kendrick Perkins revealed his midseason picks saying,” I’m going with boys from the valley, the Phoenix Suns. They represented the Western Conference and they got better in the offseason. And now they’re healthy, they got the best record in the NBA for a reason because they know they have unfinished business.”

Rightfully said Perk! The Phoenix Suns are tied at third with the Milwaukee Bucks with +750 for odds of winning the title this season. During the offseason, they made some serious moves by signing Landry Shamet, Elfrid Payton, and JaVale McGee who is an exceptional shot blocker. They resigned many of their existing players including Frank Kaminsky who is a great backup on offense. The recently signed Bismack Biyombo, a great shot-blocking center who is averaging 1.8 blocks since after joining the team.
