Marvin Vettori put on a warrior’s performance against Jack Hermansson at the recently concluded UFC Fight Night. The win saw the Italian climb 8 places in the middleweight division ladder, moving to become the number 5 ranked middleweight contender. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we see the “Italian Dream” challenging for the title soon. And, it is to be noted that Marvin Vettori has never been knocked out in his entire career, with all his 4 losses, coming only by way of decision, also holding the pride of the only man who gave middleweight king Israel Adeasanya, a run for his money.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, Vettori spoke of how Israel Adesanya doesn’t excite him, as much as he excites others, and also about his next opponent.

“His fight with Yoel was horrible” – Marvin Vettori on Israel Adesanya

Vettori wasn’t one bit amused with all the hype surrounding Israel Adesanya. Speaking of which he said, “He beat Whittaker but I feel like Whittaker that time did not perform the way he should have. His fight with Yoel was horrible and in a sense I even thought he lost. His last fight, Costa beat himself. I mean credit Israel still did his job. It’s not that he didn’t. He looked good but what I’m saying he looked good against a guy that was already beaten the moment he stepped into that cage.” [via MMA Fighting]

He also revealed that he would love to fight Robert Whittaker, as he felt that the Aussie was the best in the division after himself and Adesanya. One thing is for sure – The Italian has his eyes fixed firmly on the middleweight belt. He was quoted as saying:

“Me and Whittaker, I would love the fight. I think legitimately [Whittaker is] the best after Israel and after me, the best in the division. He’s definitely a very good test. I would love to fight him. It will be good. In terms of legitimacy, I think that will be the most fair fight but a lot of times things they go in different ways. I don’t know. It also depends on what Israel is going to decide to do and what the UFC is going to decide to do with him. Like I said, I’m not going to pick and choose. They give me a couple of these guys, I’ll be right there. I’ll be right there ready to answer and f**k them all up.” [via MMA Fighting]
