Megan Rapinoe credited Caitlin Clark's rise as a result of the strong foundations laid by previous stars that came before her.

Megan Rapinoe and Caitlin Clark
Megan Rapinoe, the retired U.S. women’s soccer star, spoke at the Business of Women’s Sports Summit in New York, where she reflected on the Caitlin Clark effect that will soon come to shine in the WNBA once she begins her rookie season. She credited her rise as a result of the strong foundations laid by previous stars that came before her.
Furthermore, she asserted that the story of Caitlin Clark is way bigger than her, and she then made an analogy of another figure in the world of women’s basketball, Dawn Staley. She stated that the coach should also get the credit she deserves as well.

It's so much more than Caitlin, though. [There's] a huge storyline around Dawn Staley and her game. It doesn't look like she's slowing down. Incredible, undefeated season, and the only reason it wasn't the only thing talked about is because Caitlin was going absolutely bonkers.Megan Rapinoe said
Furthermore, she mentioned that her effect is exactly what the game needs and deserves. Caitlin Clark is now shining because of the influence of the likes of Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Dawn Staley, and Lisa Leslie.
Megan Rapinoe further noted the WNBA’s effort in carving its identity, which she says is also a factor in the league’s rise. Also, she said she can’t wait to experience Clark in her rookie season and described herself as a fan girl.
Caitlin Clark reveals her alternative sports, if not basketball
Caitlin Clark is set to take the WNBA by storm after impacting the NCAA basketball as its all-time top scorer, where she led her team, the Iowa Hawkeye, to two consecutive national finals, 2023 and 2024, even though she didn’t win in both. Now selected by the Indiana Fever, she revealed to a local reporter how to put everything into perspective.
Clark, speaking to Anthony Calhoun, reaffirmed her love for golf, a sport she would love to participate in if not basketball. She also acknowledged how difficult it is for her to participate in an individual sport.
It's all on you to make it work; there's nobody else you can really rely on. It's frustrating, but it's challenging.Caitlin Clark said
Caitlin Clark does not shy away from challenges, such as her performance when she turned out for her college basketball teams; it would be nice to see how she fares if she switched sports. In summary, she has displayed the willpower to shoulder responsibilities and throw light on wherever she goes.
