Megan Rapinoe returns as USWNT wins the SheBelieves Cup against Argentina

The US women’s national soccer team defeated the Argentine national side 6-0 to win the SheBelieves Cup twice in a row.
They previously defeated Canada and Brazil before progressing through to the finals.

While the previous fixtures against Canada and Brazil proved to be tough matches for the USWNT, the gana against Argentina was a cakewalk with many international stars returning to the squad. The win capped off a perfect tournament for the USWNT.
Superstar Megan Rapinoe returned to the starting line up and shower her quality once again. While critics believed that her stay out of football for so long would affect her gameplay, she was all over the pitch against Argentina. She scored twice and assisted once for Carli Lloyd.

It was indeed an extra special goal for striker Alex Morgan when she scored the fifth for her side in the 84th minute. Not only because this marked her first goal since the semifinals in 2019 but because this is the first time she has scored since becoming a mother last May.

To say it’s been a long time is an understatement. It’s been over 500 days – you don’t have to sugarcoat it,” Morgan said with a laugh.
“I’m very excited to get my first goal back with the national team and join the list of moms on the team who have scored goals and played as a national team player. I just want to be an example for other female athletes who are moms or want to become moms – knowing that they still belong in the game after they have kids.
“You can be a mom and still be at the top of your game so I want to continue to show that and tonight was the first step of that.”
