Memphis Grizzlies drops City Edition Uniform
JA Morant
Memphis Grizzlies has a long history of music and soul. The franchise has paid homage to its music history with City Edition Uniform. The Grizzlies’ new look pays homage to both Stax Records — one of soul music’s great record labels, as well as Memphis singer/songwriter Isaac Hayes.
Talking about their performance in the previous season, Grizzlies’ JA Morant was their best performance. From averaging 17 points per game in the season to more than 7 assists, Morant was impressive all over the court for them.

There are vertical stripes along the side of the uniform that represent the grooves in the vinyl records Stax made, while the gold and turquoise colors throughout the uniform are pulled from Hayes’ 1972 Cadillac El Dorado. That car is displayed at the Stax Museum in Memphis and echo the gold records and international hits the label produced in the 1960s and ’70s.
Not only that, Ja Morant has won the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year Award. After an amazing campaign where he almost took a lottery team to the Playoffs, Morant won over all the voters. Almost all. Out of the 100 voters, 99 voted for Morant to win. There was a sole, lonely vote for Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.
Having said that, the Grizzlies lost Mike Conley last season but have got a point guard who might become better than him. In the upcoming draft and free agency, the Grizzlies need to build a stronger squad around Morant and give him the best pieces to excel and take his team ahead.
