Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir has decided to take an indefinite break from international cricket. The 28-year-old shares that his decision to quit Test cricket has been misinterpreted by the team management. And it has led them to make erratic statements about him. Amir clarifies that he quit red-ball cricket to dedicate his time to the Pakistan limited-overs side. He went on to slam bowling coach Waqar Younis who hailed him ‘ditching’ the team as one of the reasons for the team’s loss Down Under

My personal decision to leave Test cricket was taken in a wrong way. My retirement was attached to my desire of playing T20 leagues. I was wishing to invest everything in white-ball cricket for Pakistan. But every now and then some one or the other person came out with a statement. Our bowling coach came out and said, I ditched them, somebody says work load wasn’t properly handled,” he further added.

Amir goes on to clarify that he will release an official statement regarding his sabbatical once he lands in Pakistan. His decision comes as a huge shock for the Pakistan cricketing fraternity. Especially with twin T20 World Cups coming up, Amir’s absence might cost the Men in Green dear as they struggle to revive their fortune in the shortest format of the game.

I will reach Pakistan within two days and meet my family. I will then release a proper statement telling the actual reason for my decision,” Amir concluded.
