Merab Dvalishvili has become a fan favorite in the UFC, especially after he began to post hilarious skits on social media. Even though he only has a single finish in his UFC career, he has weaponized cardio to full effect. As the number one contender at bantamweight, he will fight Sean O’Malley later this year.
O’Malley has recently become the main target of Dvalishvili’s skits. He made another one focusing on cardio, which again went viral. In the new skit, Dvalishvili ran down the street when he saw smoke come from a building. The Georgian donned the firefighter’s uniform and entered the house, where he realized the smoke came from O’Malley (lookalike) smoking weed. Interestingly, Merab trolled himself with the dialogue in the skit.
Sean, what's up? What's wrong with you, bro? We have a fight soon...We are fighting, this is big fight. I need your cardio. We gotta fight five rounds. Usually, I go distance. I don't finish people. I need five rounds bro.Merab Dvalishvili on the skit on Instagram
Afterward, Dvalishvili picked up the Sean O’Malley doppelganger and ran away. In his previous skit that trolled O’Malley, the Georgian appeared as a nightmare for the bantamweight champion. An interesting thing to also note is that everybody, in the beginning, thought that the doppelganger was O’Malley himself before realizing he was not.
The UFC had already announced main events for UFC 301, UFC 302, and UFC 303. Due to O’Malley’s star status, it is unlikely that he would be on a co-main event of a PPV. However, if the promotion went to international venues like Australia, UAE, or England, the fight could happen as a co-main event behind a regional superstar.
Merab Dvalishvili reunites with META CEO at UFC 300
Many UFC superstars were in attendance at UFC 300. Most came to enjoy the event, while others had a vested interest in the result of the fights. However, Dvalishvili was at the event as Aljamain Sterling, his best friend and training partner, fought Calvin Kattar. Sterling won the fight to the delight of Dvalishvili.
The Georgian also met his new friend at the event. It was none other than Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta CEO. Zuckerberg has been friends with Zuckerberg for a while. Zuckerberg and his wife were cage-side when Dvalishvili fought Henry Cejudo at UFC 298. The interaction between Dvalishvili and Zuckerberg, while the Georgian fought Cejudo, had gone viral on social media.
So we meet again ….@Mark Zuckerberg Thanks for always coming out and showing your support.Merab Dvalishvili via X
In addition to Dvalishvili, Zuckerberg is also friends with Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya as well. He walked out with Volkanovski at UFC 299 and was distraught when Ilia Topuria knocked Volkanovski out cold. Due to Zuckerberg’s admiration towards Dvalishvili, he might attend the Georgian fighter’s title fight against Sean O’Malley later this year.
