The cardio of Merab ‘The Machine’ Dvalishvili seems unmatchable in the sport of MMA. Melting fighters like Petr Yan, Sean O’Malley, and Umar Nurmagomedov remains an unachievable task. Yet, the Georgian fighter demonstrated that if anyone could do it, it’s him! With a rise in his fandom, a key aspect of Dvalishvili’s success was recently exposed by UFC star Vince Morales.

Morales competes in the bantamweight division of the UFC, and has trained with the bantamweight champion. Speaking with Garrett Kerman in an exclusive FirstSportz interview, Morales praised Dvalishvili’s work ethic and unique fighting style, describing him as a “maniac” in training.

When we train with Merab, he’s got to have a fresh guy, like every round almost. He’ll finish his five hard cage rounds. Then, he’ll go jump out for the rest of the other five sparring rounds that are out in the open with the rest of the class.

Morales’ words highlight another tale in the legendary story of Merab Dvalishvili. The Georgian fighter never takes a step back, and always puts the pressure on his opponents. Even an Olympic gold medalist like Henry Cejudo couldn’t match the intensity of the bantamweight champion.

At the moment, it appears Sean O’Malley will receive the next title shot in an attempt to avenge his previous loss. However, Vince Morales doesn’t think revenge is possible.

Once Merab gets a hold of you, dude, it feels entirely different. He just does something to your nervous system, and it’s kind of downhill from there.

The Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley rematch could happen after May, possibly for the International Fight Week PPV event. It remains to be seen what happens in the rematch. Meanwhile, Morales suffered a setback against Elijah Smith at UFC Vegas 102. Nevertheless, the Idaho native is not demoralized about the loss and hopes to make a significant comeback.

Vince Morales sees growth and lessons learned despite UFC loss

The three round bout between Morales and Elijah Smith was a tightly contested bout. The fight was a back-and-forth affair, with Morales nearly securing a submission victory in the second round. Both showed elements of their overall skill set. However, the Idaho native felt his performance was unsatisfactory.

Despite the loss, Morales sees the fight as a learning experience and an opportunity for growth. He emphasized the importance of putting on exciting performances, recognizing the dual nature of the sport as both a fight and entertainment business.

Prior to that, I was real exciting. And then got in the UFC, and I was in there trying to win matches and ****. And that wasn’t necessarily… in my area. So I went back to fighting and trying to put on good shows and all of a sudden the performances get better.

Looking ahead, Morales remains focused on his own career trajectory in the UFC. While uncertain about his next opponent, he expressed readiness for whatever challenge comes his way. As Morales continues to heal and prepare for his next opportunity, he remains grateful for the support of his fans and determined to make a statement in his return to the Octagon.
