If his previous controversies weren’t enough, the Netflix documentary on Vince McMahon would’ve certainly painted a vivid picture of the former WWE mogul. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Reviewing the docuseries in her blog, Mercedes Mone surprisingly showered praise on the former chairman’s contributions to the industry.
Writing on Mone Mag, the AEW wrestler said that she was disappointed with McMahon’s Netflix documentary. According to her, the six-part series didn’t reveal much that she didn’t know about. Talking about McMahon, Mone stated that it was an honor to work for him during her time in WWE. Moreover, she emphasized that wrestling wouldn’t be where it is today without Vince.
Needless to say, this statement came as a shocker to wrestling fans. In addition to the heinous s*xual trafficking lawsuit, Mone found herself underutilized during the majority of her WWE run. In fact, her unceremonious departure is enough of a reason for the AEW TBS Champion to loathe McMahon.
I’ll say this, as I watched, I couldn’t believe that I got to work for Vince, what a crazy genius he is, and how he really elevated wrestling to a whole stratosphere. He created a universe fans have enjoyed for decades and still do. He made wrestling larger than life.

In May 2022, Mone and her friend, Naomi, walked out of a television taping, citing creative differences. The reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time handed over their belts to Talent Relations and left WWE. Vince McMahon didn’t take this kindly, as he buried the top stars during the live telecast.
Although Naomi eventually returned at this year’s Royal Rumble, the erstwhile Sasha Banks joined rival company, AEW. Since then, Mone has alluded in several interviews that her relationship with Vince wasn’t exactly on the best of terms. Despite that, the former Women’s Champion seemingly has a soft spot for the 79-year-old.
Mercedes Mone recalls hilarious incident with Vince McMahon
Delving into her relationship with Vince McMahon on Mone Mag, Mercedes Mone revealed a hilarious story about her former boss. During her rivalry against Nia Jax in WWE, the 32-year-old recalled how McMahon once abruptly called off their match.
Despite the confusion, both Mone and Jax played it off and went to the back. The AEW TBS Champion said that she initially questioned Triple H as to what transpired.
When the latter informed her it was a mistake from Vince, Mone confronted the billionaire. The then-Sasha Banks playfully got McMahon to admit that he was wrong. Following this, both Mercedes and Vince shared a laugh about the situation.
