Earlier this morning, a picture featuring Shane McMahon and Tony Khan was up on social media platforms. At first, it appeared as if it were photoshopped. However, it wasn’t. The image was obtained via the collaborative efforts of Fightful and WrestleTalk. They reported that Khan and McMahon held a private meeting on Monday in Arlington.

Now, reigning AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone is claiming that she clicked that photo. However, by the looks of it, The CEO seems like she’s just having fun. Albeit, Mercedes and Shane were spotted together at an airport following the Double or Nothing PPV. There are multiple theories swirling in the market regarding how that tete-a-tete between Shane McMahon and Tony Khan was pictured and eventually surfaced online. Some believe that the AEW prez has done it on purpose.

Meanwhile, there are others who’re flustered why Tony caught up with a member of the McMahon family, despite calling WWE the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling a few months ago. As of now, it’s still early days in this unfathomable synergy between the Jaguars executive and Shane-O-Mac. It was just last month when it was first unearthed that McMahon had reached out to wrestlers on the AEW roster.

It was said that he at least hypothetically discussed the idea of joining the company. Even though it’s a long stretch at this point, some fans can’t help but be reminiscent of an incident that changed the entire course of this industry forever.

It was March 26, 2001, when Shane popped up in WWE’s then-rival promotion, WCW, to let everyone know that he had bought the company. Similarly, what if he does the same with AEW? It’s just a fanatic visual right now, as mentioned above.

When was Shane McMahon’s last appearance in WWE?

At last year’s WrestleMania in Los Angeles, Shane McMahon made a surprise return to WWE. It was his first appearance since being quietly let go by Vince McMahon following the 2022 Royal Rumble debacle. The Crown Prince of WWE was accused of manipulating the creative booking of the men’s Royal Rumble match.

McMahon reportedly wanted to be the standout performer, despite several other emerging superstars pegged for that showing. In the aftermath, it was learned that Shane’s antics left backstage producers fuming.

As a result, the 54-year-old was asked to quit by his father himself. However, at WrestleMania 39, he came back just to rupture his quad muscles. He was slated to wrestle The Miz. Bell rang, and seconds into the match, Shane was injured.
