On Tuesday, the New York Mets acquired outfielder Jose Siri from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for reliever Eric Orze. Siri is expected to fulfill Harrison Bader’s position as center fielder and support Tyrone Taylor in the process.
Siri’s addition to the team will help them as insurance in case Taylor needs more time to heal from his surgery. In the past two seasons, the 29-year-old posted a record of 43 HRs. However, he struggled in 2024 recording only .620 OPS as he got struck out 170 times.
However, Jose Siri’s offensive strength can help boost the lineup as the Mets do need capable players in that spot. Meanwhile, it’ll give time to Tyrone Taylor for a full recovery as he underwent umbilical hernia and bone fragment removal surgery last month.

Apart from them, outfielder Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte will act as left and right fielders for the team. However, the team dynamic may change depending on their chances of landing the superstar free agent Juan Soto.
Will NY Mets consider Juan Soto bid following recent move?

The Mets are rumored to have put $660 million on the table although confirmation from the player and team is yet to be made. On the other hand, there have been reports that the NY Mets said they’ll add $50 million on top of any offer by any MLB team.
