The promotion is back with prime pomp and posture in “Sin City” for this weekend’s fight card. UFC 306 PPV sees bantamweight king Sean O’Malley go up against Merab Dvalishvili. Before fighter send-offs and Media Day, ‘Suga’ was sporting quite the unique braids – all thanks to Sean O’Malley’s wife and her tricks and treats.
UFC 306, aka the second annual Noche UFC, is a tribute to the Mexican Independence. Hence, UFC 306 ‘Embedded’ Vog No. 2 sees wife Danya O’Malley (Danya Gonzalez) color his hair as a tribute to Mexico. She also revealed the Mexico-inspired hairstyle in one of her top IG posts. Check out the new trends. Their daughter Elena O’Malley is also visible during the segment.

This also happens to be the segment when ‘Suga’ took a comical swipe at old rival Henry Cejudo on his podcast. Sean O’Malley and his attention-grabbing neo-champ hairstyle after Tekashi 6ix9ine is always a point of conversation. Danya, a pro stylist in her own right, has been a big part of that.
UFC 299 ‘Embedded,’ Vlog Series saw him get his hair perm set from his wife and stylist Claudia Rubies. Danya, Rubies, and Shelby Aldstadt (co-owner of Golden Hour Hair Lounge, @goldenhourhairhb) worked on his hair during camp. While there’s much up for the Mexican tribute effort, these little fighter tidbits amp up the anticipation more.
Why does Sean O’Malley have colored hair?
Sean O’Malley is one of the most recognizably multi-hued and zingy characters in UFC competition. This is true of both his personality and his ever-changing hair color. However, that’s not where he stops. ‘Suga’ is a champion with impressive striking skills.

Self-assured to the extent of being brash, O’Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) has a passionate fan base glued to their televisions during his fights since starting this octagon tenure.
During UFC 252 ‘Embedded,’ Vlog Series 2 – his first scrap with Ecuadorian bantamweight Marlon Vera, he had it painted similarly to mimic his colors. ‘Suga’ explained the thought behind becoming an enigma. Sean O’Malley’s wife is usually the one dyeing his hair in thematic patterns for different camps.
I think every fight we’ll do something different and have a nice little theme,...The fans love it, the media, it’s something to talk about...Last time I did it, the whole fight week was about my hair. It’s something to talk about and just showing some love...Sean O’Malley to MMAFighting on SBN during UFC 252 Media Day
Then-28, his confidence skyrocketed after defeating the dangerous Petr Yan at UFC 280 and signing a multi-year extension with the UFC. He faced the champ, Aljamain Sterling, at the TD Garden in Boston for UFC 292. Subsequently, he did catch Aljo in his lean-in and faded him out with a fateful right. A few more hammers and ground-and-pound, and he has been the champ ever since.
At UFC 292, his hairstyle mixed pinks, yellows and greens. The paint represented Sweet Sweats, one of UFC 292’s PPV sponsors. The brand helps with performance and recovery, from thigh trimmers to waist trainers and gel sticks. Afterward, ‘Suga’ kept the tradition alive even more so, bringing it into this week’s UFC 306 (Noche UFC) celebration.
