Miami Heat fans remains energetic as the team will play the Celtics in the first round
The Miami Heat’s season was in danger as their star player, Jimmy Butler, was reported to have an MCL injury. However, the team shocked the Chicago Bulls by getting a stunning 21-point win on their home court to advance to the postseason. The Heat fans were hyped as the team will face the Boston Celtics in the first round.
The Miami Heat have shared a rivalry with the Boston Celtics for quite a few years now. The teams have competed in the Eastern Conference finals in back-to-back years. Considering the early playoff matchup this season, excited Heat fans at the Kaseya Center chanted, “We want Boston!” in the fourth quarter of the play-in game.
The Heat’s first play-in tournament loss despite Jimmy Butler playing for 40 minutes had fans worried. However, the other players stepped up against the Chicago Bulls to secure a spot in the playoffs. Heat’s guard Tyler Herro scored a double-double with help from Bam Adebayo and rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.
However, the pressure on the Heat may not be lifted just yet, as Butler will likely miss the series against Boston. The Celtics had an incredible season, as they have the best record in the entire league. It will certainly be a head-to-head series as the teams are 1-1 in the last two years’ Eastern finals.
Skip Bayless makes a bold suggestion about the Heat vs. Celtics first-round matchup
Butler had a hard fall in the first quarter in the Heat’s first play-in game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Despite the injury, the star stayed in the game, which may have caused the MCL injury on his knee. The star’s absence against the Celtics in playoffs is something fans never expected.
The Heat fans look forward to the star’s ‘Play-off Jimmy’ persona during every postseason. In hopes of witnessing the star in playoff mode, sports commentator Skip Bayless made a bold hypothetical prediction about Butler’s magical appearance against the Celtics. The Undisputed host reacted to the first-round matchup on his social media.
The Heat had a season full of ups and downs as they competed in two play-in games to qualify for the playoffs. Despite the tough season, Butler was confident about the team’s performance in the playoffs, which makes the star’s absence much more disappointing. It remains to be seen if the Heat can perform well against the Celtics without their star player.
