Micah Parsons has a lot on his plate. In the next 13 days, the final year of his contract will become active, and he remains without an extension. His agent and the owner of the team he plays for don’t see eye to eye. And different NFL teams are waiting for an opportunity to snag him if they sense any fumble.

A football player’s primary job is to play football. Parsons wants to play. Even though he’s chosen to hold out and requested a trade, the 26-year-old still shows up at the Cowboys training facility to observe his teammates.

Recent clicks prove that he’s itching to put on the pads and land some hits on the quarterback. Instead, he looks bored out of his mind while sitting on a chair.

On Friday, Parsons showed up at AT&T Stadium to watch the Cowboys’ preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons. During the game, cameras caught the All-Pro pass rusher taking a quick nap on top of an empty table in the Cowboys’ dugout.

Naturally, it wasn’t viewed as a smart move from Parsons. He slept while some of his teammates were fighting for their jobs on the field.

WFAA’s Mike Leslie quickly de-escalated the situation by defending Parsons from the media trial.

In the interest of clarity (and fairness)—Micah Parsons was not lying on the training table all night. In fact, that was only a relatively short portion of the evening.

Leslie tweeted

Parsons shared Leslie’s tweet to thank him for clearing his name.

I actually appreciate this… The way media shapes perception and narratives is wild—and if he hadn’t said anything, everyone would’ve just run with it. I’d never disrespect the guys out there fighting for their lives.

Cowboys All-Pro corner Trevon Diggs was next to speak up for his teammate. The Athletic’s Jon Machota caught up with Diggs after the game to ask the DB about Parsons’ availability for the Cowboys’ next practice session.

I don’t know, his back is kinda tight. He had to get an MRI today. I don’t know.

Trevon Diggs replied

He declined to comment on Parsons’ status for the week one fixture against the Philadelphia Eagles. “It depends on how his back feels,” Diggs said.

Parsons first spoke about dealing with a back injury to Machota at the start of the training camp in July.

In early August, Jerry Jones took a swipe at Parsons after he attended the Cowboys camp but refrained from training due to the holdout.

I wish the back would get better.

Jones said via the Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins

So, basically, Parsons had a valid reason to lie down on the table.

Micah Parsons is linked to a new team

The media bore witness to an interesting interaction between Parsons and a fan before the Cowboys’ preseason finale. He arrived at the stadium wearing a hoodie and a box full of chips.

While making his way to the entrance of the field tunnel, a fan asked the former first-rounder to ditch the Cowboys and sign with the Falcons. A muted Parsons focused on gorging on the chips as he walked past the fan.

However, before disappearing from sight, he responded with the “make a call” gesture.

Several teams have approached the Cowboys with trade proposals for the Penn State graduate. The Green Bay Packers are among those teams, and they tasked quarterback Jordan Love as their messenger.

I recruited him a little bit.

Jordan Love said (H/T: Newsweek)

The decision to trade Parsons rests on the shoulders of the Cowboys’ general manager. However, it’s unlikely that Jones will entertain any trade proposals. He still has the power to tag Parsons, not once but twice, if required.

Dallas needs Micah Parsons. Since his debut, he has been an All-Pro, a Pro Bowler, and the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021. The Cowboys’ defense will be in a tough spot if they end up trading him to another team.
