The 2024 season was certainly a highlight for the running backs in the league, especially because of Saquon Barkley’s standout season with the Philadelphia Eagles, who are now preparing for the Super Bowl game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Though Barkley was the major highlight and Bijan Robinson also credited him for elevating the importance of running backs on their teams, he wasn’t the only running back to shine this season.
The Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry, Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor, and even Robinson himself posted a standout season. However, Micah Parsons sparked a discussion across the NFL with a bold statement when he compared the second-year running back Robinson to elite talents like Christian McCaffrey and Barkley.
Given that Robinson is coming off a Pro Bowler season, he certainly deserves appreciation however, the Dallas Cowboys linebacker undermined Henry’s outstanding season on the recent episode of his The Edge with Micah Parsons podcast.

The three-time Pro Bowler’s high praise for the second-year running back Robinson has fueled conversations about the evolving role of running backs in the league, especially when that running back has the ability to be the difference maker as it can make the entire offense explosive just like Barkley has done in Philly.
Micah Parsons backs Chiefs defense to contain Saquon Barkley
While talking about Barkley, the Atlanta Falcons star affirmed his confidence in the MVP contender and the Eagles to prevent the Chiefs from completing the unprecedented three-peat. However, Parsons straightaway disagreed with him, arguing that if the Chiefs’ defense took down McCaffrey last season, they wouldn’t face much trouble handling Barkley on the coming Sunday.
Throughout the season where the Chiefs posted a 15-2 record, their defense under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has received enormous praise for their contribution in making the Chiefs the second team in NFL history to qualify for three consecutive Super Bowls. That’s why, Parsons has high confidence in the ability of Spagnuolo’s defense to contain explosive offenses such as the Eagles.
